WWE Wanted Charlotte Flair To Strip Toni Storm On TV
WWE has released a lot of wrestlers over the course of the last two years. Some of those releases, like Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt, will have surprised some fans more than others. The sudden departure of Toni Storm ranks right up there as one of the most shocking, largely because the former NXT UK Champion was on SmackDown the week before and was embroiled in a rivalry with Charlotte Flair at the time.
It Wasn't The Cream Pies
Some fans assumed Storm ducked out of WWE after not being taken seriously during that feud. It quickly descended into her and Flair popping each other in the face with cream pies. Turns out that wasn't the reason Storm wanted out. It wasn't even the straw that broke the camel's back. Storm explained on this week's AEW Unrestricted that she actually quite liked the cream pie angle.

“People think I’m mad, I think it’s hilarious, standing there covered in pie. I can demolish food, so if they’re throwing food at me, that was a good day,” Storm joked. Other than her love of food, the other reason Storm welcomed a cream pie to the face on international television was because of what the segment happened in place of.
Stripped By Charlotte
“They wanted to do this whole angle where they wanted to rip my shirt off to be embarrassed, to my underwear,” Storm revealed. “When you’re asked if you’re comfortable to do that and literally, people are being fired every single week, it’s like, ‘Well, yeah, I guess I’m comfortable with that.’." While Storm was reluctantly ready to go through with being stripped by Flair live on SmackDown, others fought back against the idea, and being stripped was replaced with a pie to the face.
Storm wound up leaving WWE not long after she had been called up to the main roster and didn't actually spend that long in NXT either. Most of her time in WWE was spent on the NXT UK brand. It's hard to believe WWE wouldn't have eventually made her a champion on either SmackDown or Raw. Young, talented, and over with the fans. We'll probably never know, and Storm's first big achievement in AEW could well be winning the women's Owen Hart tournament.
