WWE Still Hasn't Explained What Happens If AJ Styles Wins At Night Of Champions
Four triple-threat matches and two semi-finals later, the stage is now set for Night of Champions. Seth Rollins and AJ Styles will go to war and the winner of that match will be crowned WWE's first World Heavyweight Champion, or should that be its next World Heavyweight Champion? The lineage of the new title still hasn't been explained.
What Happens If AJ Styles Wins?
Speaking of things that haven't been explained, WWE also hasn't clarified what will happen if Styles becomes the new title's first holder at Night of Champions. After Roman Reigns was drafted to SmackDown, taking the WWE and Universal Titles with him, Triple H unveiled the new belt, confirming that it will be exclusive to Raw and even having a little dig at Reigns in the process.

That Raw exclusivity was further confirmed by Paul Heyman when he teased Reigns adding the new championship to his collection, confirming that's not possible since The Tribal Chief is on SmackDown. In what appears to be a classic case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is up to, WWE then proceeded to book a tournament in which half the participants are SmackDown Superstars.
Maybe WWE Doesn't Need To Explain
The final is now set, and I think it's fair to say either Rollins or Styles winning the match is a believable outcome. The thing is, WWE is yet to explain what happens if Styles wins. Now, that might be because there are no plans for Styles to win so WWE doesn't need to figure that out. However, it would be nice for fans to have an explanation so this whole thing actually makes sense.
If Rollins is going to win, then what's the harm in WWE relaying Styles will move to Raw if he wins since that isn't going to happen? It feels a little like Styles might win and then WWE will decide what to do after the fact, which would be ill-advised. The USA Network has reportedly been clamoring for Raw to have its own World Title for months since Reigns was effectively a SmackDown Superstar even before the draft. Teasing the network with its own shiny new title and then taking it away probably wouldn't be best for business.
