WWE's summer of massive shows has come to a close. Clash at the Castle brought the curtain down on a massive summer of change for WWE, and the show immediately after it effectively marked the official dawn of a new era. While Clash was technically the first premium live event on which Triple H could really leave his creative mark, the week-to-week leading to the next big show will be his first real test, and that next big show is Extreme Rules.
Extreme Rules has never been a tentpole show for WWE, but The Game will want to make this a must-see event. Hard to do after a historic Clash and what needs to be an intriguing Survivor Series. Extreme Rules takes place on Saturday, October 8, continuing WWE's run of holding events earlier in the weekend. It'll begin at 8 pm EST with an hour-long kickoff show beforehand. Fans in the US will be able to watch live on Peacock, while everyone else can do the same by tuning into the WWE Network.

A Fight Pit match between Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle was added to the card following the September 19 edition of Raw.
Liv Morgan vs. Ronda Rousey in an Extreme Rules Match for the SmackDown Women's Championship
Three months on from her big night at Money in the Bank, Liv Morgan is still champion. Fair play to her and WWE as that didn't appear to be the plan. The threats to her reign continue to grow, though. At Extreme Rules, Ronda Rousey will get another shot to win the title back, beating four other Superstars to earn her shot.
Extreme Rules suggests most, if not all the matches on this card will be no disqualification. If that applies to this match then not only can it be a match Morgan has a better chance at winning, but it can finally be the setting where Shayna Baszler gets involved. The Queen of Spades joining Rousey to help her beat a far more persistent Morgan than they expected, winning back the title.
Bianca Belair vs. Bayley in a Ladder Match for the Raw Women's Championship
Bayley might have returned with backup, but she has made it abundantly clear her aim is to once again become a singles champion. Since she landed on Raw, the singles title she's after is Bianca Belair's. A match she earned by pinning the champ in a tag match at Clash at the Castle.
Since every match on the card has a stipulation, to win this one a Superstar will need to climb a ladder to unhook the title. A match brought about by Belair hitting Bayley with a KOD onto a ladder the last time they met one-on-one. That won't be how this match ends, of course, but Belair will still probably win.
Matt Riddle vs. Seth Rollins Inside The Fight Pit
If you thought Matt Riddle and Seth Rollins were going to be one and done, think again. The two Superstars have been costing each other wins even after they were supposed to settle their differences at Clash at the Castle, and now the pair will have a rematch inside the fight pit with Daniel Cormier as the special guest referee.
This will be the first time WWE's fight pit has made an appearance on the main roster, and even in the staged world of WWE, the gimmick has to play in Riddle's favor. A win for Raw's resident bro in this one to level things up since he's the one with the legitimate fighting background.
Drew McIntyre vs. Karrion Kross in a Strap Match
Karrion Kross appeared to be back in WWE to dethrone Roman Reigns, but that has been put to one side for now. While Reigns is busy building to his match with Logan Paul, Kross will clash with The Tribal Chief's last challenger Drew McIntyre in a Strap Match.
Two big men attached by a strap that will be used to whip each of them to within an inch of their lives, all that's guaranteed in this one is someone is going to get hurt. As for a winner, it would be a shame if Kross loses his first big match back, but McIntyre losing two big bouts in a row would also be a bad choice if this match isn't booked well.
Edge vs. Finn Balor in an I Quit Match
Despite The Judgment Day's best efforts, Edge has returned in time for Extreme Rules, and he wants a first-time-ever match with Finn Balor. To prove The Rated R Superstar can never be ruled out for good, he has opted for an I Quit stipulation.
It's hard to imagine Edge uttering the words "I quit" if this match goes smoothly. However, with the outside elements potentially at play, the likelihood of the bout going off without a hitch is unlikely. Perhaps the other members of Balor's faction will threaten something Edge loves, forcing him to quit. It's about time Beth Phoenix was brought in to deal with Rhea Ripley.
The Brawling Brutes vs. Imperium in a Good Old Fashioned Donnybrook Match
While every match has an extreme stipulation attached, if you're looking for carnage, this bout is probably your best bet. It remains unclear what exactly a Good Old Fashioned Donnybrook match is. It will probably involve all six men beating each other up with whatever they can get their hands on, and it'll almost definitely be entertaining.
24 hours before this match, Sheamus will get a second chance to beat Gunther for the Intercontinental Title. With that in mind, the most likely scenario will be Gunther retaining the title on SmackDown, and The Brawling Brutes winning this match the night after.
