Why WWE Wrestlers Being Allowed Back On Twitch & Cameo Is So Important

Quick Links

According to a report from Fightful Select, WWE is now allowing its talent to make money from third-party platforms, and that is a major benefit to the talent. Triple H made the announcement after addressing the WWE roster backstage during WrestleMania weekend and the result was a unanimous joy as prior to the ban on third-party revenue, many wrestlers were making substantial amounts of money via platforms like Twitch (primarily used to stream video games) and Cameo, a system where you can pay celebrities to record messages for friends and family.

This News Will Keep On-Screen Talent Happy

Being able to make money from things such as Twitch and Cameo may not be the priority for a wrestler, but it is still something they can make money from. It isn't a situation that wrestlers are forced to do, but for those who want to use the extra time to push their love of video games, it allows them to make extra money.

For the wrestlers, it can provide a little creative freedom, it helps them connect to the fans, and ultimately does make them happy. Any chance that WWE gets to keep their roster happy, they should be taking it. When the company cut third-party profit for the wrestlers, it caused a huge uproar.

Zelina Vega ended up leaving the company, while Paige broke down on camera about the news. Creating poor morale is not good for any promotion, and that is why WWE changing up this policy was a good thing. Fans want to see the wrestlers happy in their day-to-day lives because that ends up being reflected in their in-ring work.

Wrestlers who are happy bring good morale, and that is something that helps to improve the overall product. This helps this to be an important situation from both an in and out of ring perspective, which is why people were so pleased to hear the news.

It Takes Away An Advantage Of WWE's Competition

Since AEW has existed, Tony Khan has allowed his talent to earn a profit from third-party platforms. It was even something that they mocked WWE for on an episode of Dynamite before. It might not be anything to do with how talent is booked, but it has been a major advantage for AEW.

The fact that someone like Adam Cole, who was well booked within WWE, opted to leave the company to work for the competition is a sign that third-party benefits could have been a decisive factor. While nobody has come out and said that, the fact that AEW has been allowing it is certainly a good thing for convincing talents to sign for them.

However, now WWE is open to wrestlers earning financial gain from things outside the company as well, that advantage has gone from AEW. It makes things more of a level playing field, and that is important for those in the business. They have the option to make money either way, and that makes things instantly more exciting from an audience perspective.

The Fans Benefit From Wrestlers Having Third Party Revenue

Another reason why professional wrestlers need to be making a profit from sites like Twitch is that the fans themselves will benefit. Ultimately, WWE Superstars are looking to entertain the fans as much as possible, and that doesn't always need to be inside the ring.

With things such as Twitch, wrestlers can showcase their creativity, and their true personalities, which isn't always highlighted on television. This is why it's so important for wrestlers to be paid for this because it makes them more inclined to create the content.

Being able to connect with an audience in any way can make or break a career. Xavier Woods has become one of the most popular wrestlers in the company, largely due to his YouTube channel. While he's a great talent that is part of a great act, it is through YouTube he has carved out a fanbase.

This in turn then benefits the wrestler. If they can create a hardcore group of fans that are positively talking about them, it is only going to help them. After all, it is the WWE Universe that drives who gets pushed by the company, therefore if talent can do things outside the company to aid that, it is a positive situation.

While these types of situations are often based on a wrestler's hobbies, being able to earn money from them will inspire talent to create more. Therefore now that is back on the table, fans will likely expect more of this content to come, which is going to be important for everyone involved in wrestling.
