What Rayna Lindsey Is Up To After Below Deck Season 9
Former Below Deck season 9 deckhand Rayna Lindsay is done with reality TV, but she has no plans of slowing down. Big changes lie ahead for her.
It's been a couple of months since the end of Below Deck season 9, and fans are looking to catch up on what Rayna Lindsey has been up to. Rayna was arguable the most controversial cast member on what can be described by many as one of the shortest seasons of the reality TV show. Rayna no doubt had a crazy season 9, but before Below Deck season 9 episodes started airing, she decided to make some major changes in her life and set out milestones for herself that she intends to pursue in the future.
In Below Deck season 9, viewers saw deckhand Rayna come to head with chief stewardess Heather Chase, after Heather's use of a racial slur. Rayna was offended by the inappropriate comment and later confronted her about it, but Heather seemed to shrug her off. Heather claimed that she didn't recall using the derogatory word, but the entire scene was caught on camera. Eventually, Heather admitted to what she had said and ended up apologizing to Rayna both on and off screen, but the relationship between the two would continue to grow cold throughout the season.
Rayna, who starred alongside Eddie Lucas, made a huge change in her life by deciding to go sober. As of now, the reality TV star has successfully been sober for six months. At the start of her journey, Rayna took to her Instagram page to celebrate her one-month milestone. Part of her captioned post read, "On November 16th, 2021 I made the conscious decision to put the liquor down for good. Throughout the year liquor has been like a backbone for me. If I had a hard day, I’d drink. If something bothered me or if I was sad, I’d drink. Drinking was the ultimate coping mechanism for me. The ultimate escape from reality. Now I’m realizing that escaping reality is something I don’t want anymore. I want to feel the pain and the emotions that circulate throughout my body."
Outside her journey to sobriety, Rayna, who had an issue with Below Deck chief stew Heather, on numerous occasions throughout the show, mentioned wanting to move abroad to Mexico, and it looks like Rayna has decided to finally make the big move. However, she has yet to mention where exactly she is in Mexico. According to Show Star News, Rayna is apparently done with reality TV, and she's looking forward to bigger and better things for herself. At the end of 2021, she told fans, "I’m trying to become the next [Karamo] or [Jamie Chung]. One season of Reality TV and that’s f***ing it. I got bigger plans. Way bigger plans." In the meantime, Rayna looks to have picked up pole dancing as a form of self-expression, and exercise.
Below Deck season 9 deckhand Rayna, who was captained by Lee Rosbach, might have had a rocky season, but she's well on her way to putting it completely behind her. She seems to be living her best life in her journey toward self-discovery and purpose. It might have taken her a while to realize that she had problems that needed fixing, but her progress so far is more than a testament to her willingness to improve herself.
