What Happened To Villain Kelsey Poe After Chris Soules' Season
Coming from a season of memorable The Bachelor contestants, Kelsey Poe has been laying low the last few years. Learn more about what she's been up to.
While The Bachelor franchise has been filled with memorable contestants since the very beginning, but none as memorable as season 19's, Kelsey Poe. The widow from Michigan was eliminated by Chris Soules in the sixth week following an intense two-on-one date. Kelsey, who placed eighth on the season, faced backlash from the other women in the house as well as the fans, and she's still one of the most notorious members of Bachelor Nation.
As one of the 23 women who competed for Chris Soules' heart, Kelsey struggled to befriend the other women in the house, eventually transitioning into the villain role. She never received a group date rose, nor was she selected for a one-on-one, and her connection with Chris didn't seem very strong. The most memorable part of Kelsey's time on The Bachelor was her backstory. Kelsey, who wasn't the only widow competing during season 19, described the story of her late husband's passing as "amazing" and used it to get time with Chris. Her behavior left fans wondering how her late husband's family felt about her and made the other contestants believe that she was fake and manipulative.
Aside from her "amazing" backstory, Kelsey's time on the show is most significantly tied to her feud with Ashley Iaconetti Haibon. Ashley I. seemed to rub Kelsey the wrong way from the very beginning, but things escalated during week 4. While at a camping group date, Ashley I. behaved indecently, according to Kelsey, who spent the date pouting and complaining. Tensions continued to flare after Ashley I. wasn't selected for a Cinderella-inspired one-on-one date, and Kelsey had a questionable panic attack in week 5. The women faced off in an intense two-on-one date, during which Kelsey described Ashley I. as "a Kardashian who didn't get to go on her princess date who has way too much makeup on to be genuine." Both women were eliminated during the date, with Ashley's luggage being taken first, shocking the other women, who celebrated with champagne when Kelsey's luggage was also taken away.
While she was despised by fans, life after The Bachelor seemed to be promising for Kelsey. Having done some interviews and podcasts such as The Juliet Show, Kelsey seemed interested in sharing her take on the season. However, in early February of 2015, following her elimination, she announced that she would be moving to Paris to become a full-time writer (via ABC News). Kelsey had been writing a blog prior to the show and had decided that it was time for her to become a full-fledged writer, and there was no better place for her to try than in Paris. Kelsey left behind her life in Michigan and eventually won a writing competition in which she wrote about her experiences dealing with her late husband's passing. She also found new love overseas that summer, but it's unclear if they are still dating.
Kelsey has continued to face endless criticism on social media and stopped posting on Instagram and Facebook in 2015. She also stopped posting on her blog, which now appears to have been deleted. Although, her social media pages are still accessible. Kelsey even attempted to sue The Bachelor for emotional damages but dropped the charges not long after. While almost ten years have passed since her time on the show, Kelsey is still absent from social media, and little is known about her whereabouts or what she's been up to.
