The 42-year-old Nebraska man was born deaf, and after dating someone who cheated on him, he turned to a Facebook group for deaf singles where he found Sheila. She's a single mother to a 12-year-old son Jhonreil, who lives in Cebu.

When Sheila was very young, she inserted a broomstick in her ear and damaged it, thus leading to her being partially hearing impaired. David has spent over $3,000 on Sheila. Before the pandemic, Sheila worked as a saleslady, and used to sell cotton candy for a living. But later, it became difficult for her to find work. David started to support Sheila and her family with money every month. “I’m really appreciative and thankful for him, a lot,” she told the cameras. Sheila’s latest Instagram post shows her sitting inside a shop. In the background are small sachets of toothpaste, detergent, etc. “Even if I'm sick. I'm still here in my own small shop to get back the investment. Need to work,” Sheila wrote in her recent caption, also revealing she has vertigo.

It appears Sheila has taken a loan to get herself a small shop where she sells groceries and household items. It can't be confirmed whether David helped her set up her shop. David and Sheila woke up and found her lying on the floor.
