Usman Called Out For Fame Comments In Older Interview
Usman Umar AKA Sojaboy's real intentions become clear in a throwback video discovered by Reddit users in which he admits to seeking reality TV fame.
90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days star Usman Umar AKA Sojaboy has been put on a blast by fans for a video in which he makes shocking comments about the show. The Nigerian singer first gained fame after appearing in the 90 Day Fiancé spin-off season 4 in which he first met his ex-wife Lisa Hamme, also known as Baby Girl Lisa in person. Lisa’s jealousy created problems in her and Usman’s relationship, but they married anyway, only to predictably split later. But while his personal life suffered, Usman thrived professionally after doing the show, as it made him very popular, and it's where Kim Menzies slid into his DMs.
Kim and Usman’s relationship on 90 Day Fiancé hasn’t been any less controversial than his marriage to Lisa. Usman refusing at first to accept Kim as his girlfriend, taking expensive gifts from her, and hiding his relationship with his ex-girlfriend Zara from Kim have been criticized by fans. In fact, Usman was talking to Kim and dating Zara at the same time online. In the 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days finale, Usman admitted he was still in love with Zara but also had feelings for Kim. Kim was shocked when she saw a video call between Usman and Zara during the Tell-All, which exposed the Sokoto resident’s true colors. While Kim cried from the humiliation of watching her boyfriend seductively talking to his ex-girlfriend, Usman tried to hold back laughter instead of consoling her.
A Reddit fan u/mowsin_cat has now shared an old video of Usman in which he reveals his real intentions behind doing the show, and what Zara means to him. The TikTok video features Usman in an interview during which he admits that he actually wanted to go on TV with his now ex-girlfriend Zara. Usman speaks about Zara still having a contract from the show in her hands. The clip cuts midway as one can now see Usman announcing, “because I love being on TV.” In the Reddit post’s comments, fans judged Usman for having no shame, while a few appreciated him for at least being honest about it.
“How is that good for his image/career?” asked u/chihiro1984 as they wondered how dating two women twice his age back-to-back just to be on TV would be beneficial to anyone’s career. “As they say, any press is good press,” wrote TLC viewer poffincase. Fans think that Usman called Zara with the crew present so that Kim and he would end things and he would get a chance to return to a new spin-off, with Zara as his girlfriend. They suspect Usman might even get Kim’s help in bringing him to the U.S. only for him to leave her and rekindle a romance with Zara.
While breaking up with Usman, Lisa had made claims about him being a scammer. She also recently accused Kim and Usman of being in a fraudulent relationship on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. Usman’s ultimate dream is to become a big celebrity in the States. With the rate at which his work is reaching fans all over the world via his appearances on 90 Day Fiancé, it’s certainly possible. Also, given that controversial cast members have a greater chance of returning on-screen via new 90 Day Fiancé spin-offs, Usman may continue with his favorite hobby of being on TV for as long as he can milk it. As long as he markets his music well regardless of who he dates, his hustle can indeed take him places.
