Spider-Man is Stronger Than Hulk, And Marvel Just Confirmed It

Fans know Spider-Man is strong, but Marvel confirms Peter Parker has the strength to not only survive a Hulk attack, but take him down too.

Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk in Marvel Comics

Summary

  • Spider-Man proves his superior strength and invincibility by surviving a blast from a Hulk-fighting cannon.
  • Spider-Man's speed and agility give him an advantage over the Hulk, who is not known for being agile.
  • Spider-Man's unknown limits of strength make him a potentially formidable opponent for the Hulk.

Marvel fans know Spider-Man is a strong superhero, but it's now official: Peter Parker is strong enough to defeat the Incredible Hulk in a one-on-one brawl, with modern comics confirming that Spider-Man is even stronger and more invincible than his fans assume.

In the 2022 Devil's Reign event, the Kingpin Wilson Fisk outlaws all superhero activity within New York City, mobilizing the Thunderbolts to apprehend the likes of Susan Storm, Reed Richards, and dozens more. Spider-Man is broken out of jail, before coming face-to-face with a Thunderbolt wielding a massive cannon... and taking a blast from it at near point-blank range.

It is only through luck that he manages to escape, kicking the Thunderbolt in the head for good measure. Back at Beyond Headquarters (where Ben Reilly, not Peter Parker, is funded as the new Spider-Man), the scientists analyze the cannon and find it was designed to fight the Hulk. "It kicks like a wrecking ball," muses Reilly, and according to Beyond's tests, it can smash a hole through steel.

Spider-Man Can Take Hulk's Hits (And Deal Just as Much Damage)

Spider-Man Fighting Hulk and Avengers

If Spider-Man can survive a blast from a cannon designed to take out the Incredible Hulk, and his super-durable genetic makeup, it's logical to assume he has similar durability (broken ribs notwithstanding, though they heal fast). Fans are well aware that both Peter Parker and Ben Reilly routinely pull their punches during fights; much like Superman, they're terribly aware of their true strength and are one of the "no-kill" superheroes who would rather quit than break that rule. But in a fight with the Hulk, Spider-Man can let loose, and perhaps even prevail.

Aside from Spider-Man's own impressive strength, he certainly has the speed and agility advantage over Bruce Banner's greener half. The Hulk is not known for being an agile fighter, while Peter Parker easily swings from foe to foe (and while he technically isn't fast enough to dodge bullets, Spider-Man's spider-sense allows him to get out of the line of fire before an enemy can pull the trigger). And in a fight with Hulk, being able to survive the hits which do land is most of the battle.

Spider-Man is a hero who doesn't even know the limits of his own strength, and in that respect, he could be more than a match for the Hulk.
