Sammy Guevara Shows Off The Stitches He Needed After Blood And Guts

Sammy Guevara has shared a photo of the stitches he required after what was a rather brutal Blood and Guts match on Dynamite.

More than a year after the match was canceled thanks to the pandemic, AEW finally introduced the WarGames cage to its product for the first time. Since WWE owns the WarGames trademark, the match is called Blood and Guts in AEW. Even though it didn't carry the WarGames name, it could be argued AEW's take on the match beyond was far closer to the original bouts.

From the roof on the cage to the amount of bloodshed, the five-on-five match was very reminiscent of a traditional WarGames match. Sadly, the talking point coming out of Dynamite was the fall Chris Jericho took at the end of the main event. MJF threw his former mentor from the top of the cage, and the wrestling world is torn over whether the pads that broke his fall ruined the illusion or were necessary to reduce the risk of injury.

What has been overlooked is how much every man in the match went through before that moment. As already touched upon, there was a lot of blood. Surprising considering the match aired live on network television. Sammy Guevara has shared what his arm looked like after it was patched up, and it's not a pretty sight.

As you can see above, Guevara needed a number of stitches in the back of his upper arm after the match. The bruising around the gash is significant and extends all the way over into the middle of his back. Guevara wasn't the only one to leave the cage very beaten up. MJF was wearing a crimson mask by the time he reached the cage roof, and Dax Harwood was also bleeding pretty profusely.

What comes next for the two teams involved in Blood and Guts will be very telling. Guevara was the one who effectively lost the match for The Inner Circle, surrendering to MJF as he threatened to throw Jericho from the cage roof. MJF went ahead and did it anyway because of course he would do something like that.
