Exactly what Tony Khan has planned for Ring Of Honor remains unclear. The AEW owner added the struggling promotion to his portfolio earlier this year and since then, the only ROH show has been Supercard of Honor. Other than that, wrestlers contracted to ROH have been competing on AEW TV, and those with championships have been defending them, even losing them in some cases.

Next up will be Death Before Dishonor, one of ROH's oldest PPVs and the next step towards it becoming a fully-functioning brand under the AEW umbrella. Death Before Dishonor will air live on Fite TV starting at 8 pm EST on Saturday, July 23, 2022. The price of the PPV will vary depending on region. Everything announced so far for what will likely be a very important night in ROH history can be found below.

An ROH World Title match between Jonathan Gresham and Claudio Castagnoli was added to the card during the July 15 edition of Rampage.

Claudio Castagnoli has only been back on the non-WWE wrestling scene for a month, and he already has a chance to fill a gaping hole in his resume. Becoming ROH World Champion. Despite spending six years in ROH, Castagnoli never won the big one. At Death Before Dishonor, he will clash with Jonathan Gresham for the opportunity to make that happen.

The status of every ROH title is very interesting right now. Khan appears to be keen on getting the belts around the waists of wrestlers who are contracted to AEW, like Joe and Martinez. However, that this PPV is happening may be an indicator a TV deal is on the docket. If that's the case, keeping the belt on Gresham is the best option.

Samoa Joe vs. Jay Lethal for the ROH World Television Championship

One of the biggest moments during Supercard of Honor was the appearance of Samoa Joe. Having left WWE for a second time in less than a year, fans wondered where they would see him next. While the odd appearance in AEW has been good, Joe's history with ROH made it the perfect landing spot. Within two weeks, he had already won the TV Title.

That hasn't been sitting well with Jay Lethal for a couple of reasons. One, because Lethal was the longest-reigning TV Champion in ROH history and he wants the title back. Two, because his arrival in AEW hasn't had nearly the same impact as Joe's. The bad news for Lethal is Joe will probably win this one, and the status quo will remain the same.

FTR vs. The Briscoes in a 2-Out-Of-3 Falls Match for the ROH Tag Team Championships

FTR is on a quest to hold as many sets of Tag Team Titles at one time as they possibly can. Right now they have three, but rather than chase a fourth at Death Before Disohnor, they'll run the risk of their total being reduced to two. The Briscoes will be the ones attempting to stop FTR's tag title conquest, making this a very strong candidate to be match of the night.

As for who wins, this may well be where the belt collectors run comes to an end. Although there has been no official word from Khan just yet, it feels like we're nearing some sort of TV deal for ROH. With that in mind, the best decision here would be to put the titles on The Briscoes who will presumably be appearing exclusively in ROH.

Mercedes Martinez vs. Serena Deeb for the ROH Women's World Championship

Serena Deeb has been doing a terrific job elevating female talent and attempting to boost AEW's women's division. The trouble is, it has never really felt as if she's a threat to either of the championships available to her. ROH, on the other hand, is the perfect place for Deeb to not only challenge for the top women's prize, but potentially win it.

That could well happen when she clashes with Mercedes Martinez at Death Before Dishonor. It's actually a shame this isn't happening under the AEW banner as it's almost definitely going to be a pretty great match. That can't be how a working relationship between AEW and ROH works though, of course. Deeb to win this one and lead the ROH women's division into a new era.

Wheeler Yuta vs. Daniel Garcia for the ROH Pure Championship

This match is the one on the card that most demonstrates how AEW and ROH will remain connected with talent moving back and forth. Both Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia are contracted to AEW, but will be competing for an ROH Title at Death Before Dishonor. They will also be continuining the feud between Blackpool Combat Club and the Jericho Appreciation Society in an entirely different promotion.

This one is a tricky match to call when it comes to predicting a winner. Since BCC won Blood And Guts, Garcia taking the Pure Title and giving something for the JAS to brag about the following week on Dynamite makes a lot of sense.

The Righteous vs. Dalton Castle and The Boys for the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Championships

In case you didn't know, ROH has Six-Man Tag Team Titles. It was believed the championships may have been retired as the last time they were defended was at Final Battle, prior to Khan's acqusiition of the company. Well, they're still active, and The Righteous will defend them for the first time this Saturday against Dalton Castle and The Boys.

It feels like Khan might now have a plan for these titles, which makes me think there will be a title switch. Castle and The Boys to win this one, and perhaps the re-emergence of these belts means AEW won't be getting its own Trios Titles after all.

Rush vs. Dragon Lee

The final match added to the Death Before Dishonor card with very little time left to go, and also no explanation as to why it's happening, was this one. A battle between brothers Rush and Dragon Lee. Rush was introduced to AEW recently as an ally of Andrade El Idolo. That alone may hint that Rush will be the one who wins this match on Saturday.

The Zero Hour Preshow

ROH will be following the WWE and AEW trend of preshows before their PPVs, and they'll be called Zero Hour. A couple of pretty big matches will go down on ROH's Zero Hour show, including Allysin Kay vs. Willow Nightingale, and Colt Cabana vs. Anthony Henry. All four matches on the preshow can be found below with the predicted winners in bold.

  • Allysin Kay vs. Willow Nightingale
  • Colt Cabana vs. Anthony Henry
  • The Trustbusters vs. Shinobi Shadow Squad
  • Gates of Agony & Brian Cage vs. Tony Deppen, Alex Zayne & Blake Christian
