Rey Mysterio Defeats Dominik Mysterio At WrestleMania 39

Since last year, Rey Mysterio has had to deal with the nefarious acts of his son, Dominik, who turned on his father to join Judgment Day. After spending months trying to avoid Dom, Rey finally snapped last week and attacked his own child, setting up their WrestleMania 39 match.

Father and son had the crowd in the palm of their hands before the bout even began. Dom came out first, fully leaning into his prison gimmick by being dropped off by a correction's van. He was handcuffed and wore a lucha mask as corrections officers escorted him to the ring. Rey was next, driven out in a lowrider by none other than Snoop Dogg, as Eddie Guerrero's old theme music played.

The match itself was fast-paced and lived up to the story that's been told. Dom took control early before Rey's speed caught up with him. Rey turned the tables on his son, removing his belt and whipping his behind. When Dom tossed water on his sister, who was sitting at ringside, Rey came to her aid, allowing Dominik to get a cheap shot attack on him. When Dom then went after his mother, she slapped him, causing an enraged Rey to gain the upper hand on Dominik.

Then, as we knew they would, Damian Priest and Finn Balor arrived at ringside. Dom regained control over his father with a flip that sent Rey's head snapping into the ropes in an ugly spot. It was then that Legado Del Phantasmo came down to even the odds. Dom did the 619 on his dad, getting a 2-count. After that he went for a chain, but Bad Bunny, who was sitting ringside, ripped it away from him. By then, Rey had recuperated and went on the offense, hitting a 619 of his own, followed by a frog splash for the win.

The saga between Rey Mysterio and Dominik has been one of the most entertaining storylines going in WWE. Now that Rey has conquered his son, will that be the end of their feud? It seems like it's only just begun. It wouldn't be surprising to see it continue on, and for Rey to give his son the ultimate push by letting him go over on him. If this match is all we get though, it was perfect. Father and son did a great job of telling a simple but emotional story.
