PlayStation Plus is Sony's monthly online subscription service that is required to play PS4 and PS5 games online. Players can also download tons of PS4, PS5, and classic PlayStation games from the service's massive library (similar to Xbox Game Pass) if they're willing to pay for the pleasure. New games are added to PS Plus all the time, so it is important to check back regularly and see if anything interesting is available.

What's The Difference Between PS Plus Extra and Premium?

Most PS Plus users will be familiar with the cheapest tier of PlayStation Plus, known as ''PlayStation Plus Essential', since it basically offers the standard features of the old PS Plus service. You'll get all the core PlayStation Plus benefits, including free games, access to online multiplayer services, discounts on the PlayStation Store, and a few more benefits.

So what is PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium? What's more, what is the difference between these two more expensive PlayStation Plus subscription tiers?

PS Plus Extra and Premium July 2023 Changes

Traditionally PlayStation will add a slate of new games to the PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium game catalogue each month. Unfortunately, sometimes games are also removed too. Just below you'll find all the info you need on what games joining and leaving the service.

Why are we looking so far ahead? Well, traditionally the PS Plus Extra and Premium changes take place in the middle of a month, with official announcements made on second Wednesday of a month with the games added/removed from the service on the third Wednesday. 

New PS Plus Extra and Premium June 2023 Games

The list of PS Plus Extra and Premium games joining the service in June 2023 have been revealed:

How To Get PS Plus

It is very easy to sign up for PlayStation Plus. It should be noted that you will first need to create a PlayStation Network account before you can gain access to PS Plus, so make sure you do that first by checking out Sony's dedicated guide.

  1. Turn on your PlayStation console and select your profile. 
  2. Navigate to the PlayStation Store.
  3. Sign in with your PlayStation Network ID.
  4. Navigate to PS Plus vis the menu on the left side of the screen.
  5. Either select the "Free Trial" PlayStation Plus box (if you are a new user) or navigate to the right until you see the subscription options and prices.
  6. Select your desired payment plan (12 months - $59.99, 3 months - $29.99, 1 month - $9.99, 14 Days Free - For new users).
  7. Follow the payment options on screen.
  8. If done correctly, you will have successfully signed up for PS Plus.

How To Download PlayStation Plus Games

Once you have an active PlayStation Plus membership, it is time to start downloading some free games! Here is how you do it!

  1. From the PlayStation 5 Games home screen, scroll right and select the "PlayStation Plus" option.
  2. Navigate to the "Benefits" Tab and select "PlayStation Plus Collection."
  3. Choose the game you want to play and select "Download."
