A lawsuit alleging Vince McMahon sexually assaulted former WWE employee Janel Grant repeatedly during her years-long tenure with the company has shaken the foundations of pro wrestling. How exactly WWE will handle this remains unclear, especially with the possibility of more details being revealed and more employees being implicated as the case unfolds. McMahon stepped down from the TKO board shortly after the lawsuit was filed, and fans think steps toward the former chairman being erased from WWE history have already been taken.

Undefeated At WrestleMania

The hint that fans might never hear McMahon's name on WWE TV again came in the form of what many thought was little more than a throwaway comment during Thursday's WrestleMania kickoff in Las Vegas. Introducing Pat McAfee, the last note Michael Cole made when listing his accolades was the NFL kicked turned WWE announcer is undefeated at WrestleMania.

That's not the case. McAfee has wrestled three matches at WrestleMania, winning two and losing one. That loss came at the hands of - you guessed it - Vince McMahon. That Cole seemed to conveniently forget about that match has some fans convinced the erasure of McMahon from WWE history has already begun, and that any matches and records involving the company's former owner will be adjusted, made to look as if McMahon was never there at all.

Was It Even A Match?

Cole labeling McAfee undefeated at WrestleMania might not necessarily mean McMahon has already been erased from the WWE records. The announcer may have simply misspoke. It's also possible that, like many of you, WWE doesn't consider McAfee's match against McMahon to have been an officially sanctioned one. It happened moments after McAfee had already beaten Austin Theory, and I can't even recall if a bell rang or if it was even an official referee who counted the pin.

WWE has attempted to erase people from its past before, most notably Chris Benoit whose name has barely been mentioned on WWE TV since he killed his wife and son before taking his own life. Brock Lesnar, who may be implicated in the lawsuit filed against McMahon, has also been affected as WWE shifts things around. The Beast has been removed from the cover of WWE 2K24's 40 Years of WrestleMania Edition, hinting that he might not be in the game at all.
