Matt Hardy Says The Elite Not In The Wrong During All Out Altercation With CM Punk

There is confusion about what exactly Matt Hardy meant when he said The Elite were not in the wrong during their altercation with CM punk at AEW's All Out pay-per-view. Hardy first said he witnessed the altercation and that Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, and Nick Jackson did nothing wrong and is excited to see them back to work at AEW. Hardy has however clarified his first comment to say he was not actually at All Out but only witnessed the storyline of this altercation over the months that have followed.

Hardy tweeted, "My comments from this week’s @matthardypod have been misconstrued. I WAS NOT at All Out 2022. I DID NOT say I witnessed the events at All Out. I witnessed the entire process in real time over the months & stand by my comment that the Elite were not in the wrong."

Reports are that The Elite will be back on AEW programming in time for the company's next pay-per-view. Meanwhile, rumors that CM punk is done in AEW and may be looking at a contract buyout continue to swirl. Count Hardy in as one of the people siding with the faction. Hardy explained during a recent episode of his podcast: "It's gonna be very interesting to see The Elite back, The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. I'm very happy they're back. I will say this right here and right now, those guys didn't do anything wrong in the situation." He added, "If anything, they were the victims. I'm telling you that from a first-person perspective. I was there. I witnessed it all. I love all three of those guys. I've known Matt and Nick forever. I've just gotten to know Kenny while I've worked with AEW, but I am very happy they are returning to TV and they're back and they're back in the mix. They deserve to be in the mix.”

It isn't clear how those earlier comments could have been misconstrued to believe anything other than Matt Hardy was in the locker room at the time, but his correction shows he only knows what is going on behind the scenes in terms of speculation in conversation.

Why Is Hardy Even Taking A Stance?

It's fair to ask why Matt Hardy is even taking a stance on this issue. If he was not there to witness it in person, is it fair to claim one side was right or wrong based on hearsay? Perhaps Hardy is trying to send a message to fans when it comes to CM Punk?
