Major Spoiler On Edge's Status For Royal Rumble 2020

Edge's rumored return at the Royal Rumble has been one of the hottest stories in wrestling as of late, and it sounds like we'll actually see it.

Citing sources, Paul Davis of Wrestling News is confirming that the WWE Hall of Famer will be in Houston for the Royal Rumble event. Although Edge's role for the show remains a mystery, Davis said " it looks likely that he will be a surprise entrant in the Men’s Royal Rumble match."

There are still a few spots available in the men's Royal Rumble match, leaving WWE more than enough opportunities to surprise us during the 30-man showdown. Perhaps the Rated-R superstar will be among them.

It's important to note that Edge has denied the rumors of a pending in-ring return numerous times. The former World Champion also shut down reports that he had signed a new contract with the company.

But there are plenty of credible wrestling reporters who believe Edge is on his way to a historic return. Aside from Davis, Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com said that he'd be "shocked" if Edge wasn't back in WWE by "next week."

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter brought up speculation of a possible return for Edge back in October. Bryan Alvarez later suggested that Edge must have received "some semblance of clearance," citing his spear on Elias at last year's SummerSlam event.

While all of these reports suggest that Edge will be back in the ring this Sunday, he's wasted no time in shutting them down. We'll just have to sit back and wait and see how things play out.

A Return Is Possible, But Keep Your Hopes Reasonable

Edge wouldn't have to take any major bumps during the Royal Rumble, and that's a key reason why it's safe to believe that a return could actually happen. But there's also a very strong chance that Edge is telling the truth, and fans shouldn't get their hopes up too high. Keep your expectations and hopes at a minimal level, and enjoy the show no matter what.
