Konnan Makes Horrible Comments About Konosuke Takeshita Doing The Frogsplash In AEW
AEW has seemingly been signing new wrestlers left and right, but one of their best signings has been the very impressive fan favorite Konosuke Takeshita. At only 27 years old, the Japanese sensation has wowed American audiences with his phenomenal talent. It has landed him into a fun mini feud with AEW World Champion MJF. In a phenomenal bout with MJF during the February 8th Dynamite from El Paso, Texas, Takeshita paid tribute to the late Eddie Guerrero by doing his signature frog splash.
Not everyone liked it though. Former WCW wrestler Konnan, who frequently makes controversial statements, commented on Takeshita's use of the frog splash on his Keepin' It 100 podcast. “Well Takeshita… he’s got heat with me, and he’s lucky I wasn’t in El Paso. Because when he went up, and he did the f*cking Eddie Guerrero thing for the frog splash, you’re not Mexican dude, I don’t care… Stick to your nationality.” (h/t wrestlingnews.co)
AEW wrestler Miro was not a fan of what Konnan had to say, tweeting out his displeasure about the disparaging comments against Takeshita, before Konnan replied that he was just joking.
Wrestlers Of Every Race And Nationality Have Used The Frog Splash
Though Eddie Guerrero is by far the most well known for using the frog splash, he wasn't the first to try it, and many wrestlers, not just Mexican ones either, have performed it over the years. Rob Van Dam, of course, used it just as much as Guerrero throughout his career. Montez Ford, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, and Christian are just a few others who are known for using the maneuver as well, proof that whether a wrestler is white, black, Asian, older, or younger, Eddie Guerrero's influence has affected every generation and part of the world and will continue to do so for the decades to come.
