Kazuchika Okada Wins NJPW's G1 Climax 32

New Japan Pro Wrestling's famed G1 Climax came to a close as the finals between Kazuchika Okada and Will Ospreay faced off to decide the winner of the 32nd edition of the tournament. After going over thirty minutes, "The Rainmaker" rose to the occasion and defeated the United Empire figurehead, claiming another trophy for his collection.

Kazuchika Okada Wins His Fourth G1 Climax

With the biggest field in G1 Climax history, Okada topped A-Block with only one loss in his record against Jonah, defeated Tama Tonga in the semi-finals, and then finished the tournament with a victory over Will Ospreay. He now holds a 7-1 record over the Brit. Despite Ospreay's best efforts, using signature offense of Okada's rivals like the High Fly Flow, Styles Clash and V-Trigger, Okada could not be stopped from claiming another G1 Climax trophy.

This win is Kazuchika Okada's fourth G1 Climax win, just one away from tying Masahiro Chono's record. Having won last year's G1 Climax as well, Okada is now only the fourth wrestler to win back-to-back G1's, joining Chono, Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Kota Ibushi. If there's one thing Okada does, its make history.

What Comes Next For "The Rainmaker"?

As has become tradition over the last few years, the G1 Climax winner has defended their Tokyo Dome main event title shot in singles matches leading up to January 4th. With only one blemish on this year's G1 record, Okada is likely to defend against Jonah, as well as a few other challengers along the way. The New Japan calendar is still busy before Wrestle Kingdom, as Royal Quest II and the supershow with Stardom approach.

At the moment, Okada would be set to face the reigning IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, Jay White. But, just as Okada is likely to defend his title shot, White is sure to be making title defenses in this time. Having lost to Tama Tonga in the B Block, Tonga has effectively earned a title shot, but there are sure to be more competitors eyeing the IWGP gold on the road to January 4. Who knows how the main event will shape up between now and then?
