Fans Support Sami Zayn After Pro-Israel Groups Reach Out to WWE

A huge contingent of fans have shown up to support WWE wrestler Sami Zayn after talk surfaced on Friday he might be in hot water with his employer. Zayn posted a number of comments in regards to the issues of a free Palestine and went after political figure Andrew Yang who noted, "I'm standing with the people of Israel who are coming under bombardment attacks, and condemn the Hamas terrorists."

Zayn posted a series of tweets this past week, including a response to Yang saying, "Maybe not the most tasteful statement to make within hours of Israel bombing Gaza and killing 20 Palestinians, 9 of whom were children." He added, “There is no viable moral defense for stealing people’s homes based on their ethnicity.#FreePalestine #SaveSheikhJarrah."

After Zayn began to use his large platform to voice his opinion, Pro-Israel groups contacted WWE, NBCU and FOX and Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that WWE and the TV networks did not issue a response, at least not yet.

Zayn has been quite vocal over the past few days and the wrestling community has grown concerned that WWE might step in, potentially releasing the star. 

A few of Zayn's tweets are below, including one where he wrote:

"Watching politicians & commentators rush to wrap Israeli military aggression in a cloak of victimhood, while omitting the crimes towards the Palestinians is beyond shameful. The hypocrisy in the discourse & the callous indifference towards the Palestinian people is appalling."

As mentioned, Zayn also went after comments made by politician Andrew Yang, calling him a piece of s--t and saying, "Try as I may, I will never be the most insufferable human being on television as long as this soulless parasite is on the airwaves."

How Might This Affect Zayn In WWE?

Shortly after the story broke and potential buzz surfaced that there could be repercussions for his statements, #WeSupportSamiZayn began to trend on Twitter. Concern that the attention his tweets have garnered might pose issues for him in WWE were met with a groundswell of support.

Zayn has always been outspoken when it comes to his political views and the hope by many is that this won't affect his standing in the company.
