Dark Side Of The Ring Season 5 Episode List, Release Date Revealed
Highlights
- Dark Side of the Ring season five premieres on March 5th, with ten episodes covering a variety of intriguing topics such as Black Saturday and Sandman.
- Despite the absence of a Kurt Angle episode, there are still plenty of captivating stories to be told, including Vince McMahon's acquisition of Georgia Championship Wrestling and Beefcake's unforgettable waterskiing accident.
- Fans can expect a weekly episode release schedule on Vice, although it remains unknown whether there will be a mid-season break like in the previous season.
Dark Side Of The Ring is returning for season five, and it's returning sooner than you might think. The reports that the wrestling docuseries will be back for its fifth season as soon as March were accurate as the first teaser for the upcoming season has confirmed episode one will air on March 5. Not only do we now know when season five will begin, but the show's creators have also confirmed all ten of the topics that will be covered during season five.
Season Five's Topics
Dark Side Of The Ring expanded to 14 episodes in season three but was condensed back down to ten episodes in season four. The ten episode framework has been maintained for season five, but the first advert for the show's return hasn't confirmed whether it will be split into two sections like season four. As for the ten topics being covered in season five, you can take a look at the episode list below.
- Chris Adams
- Sensational Sherri
- Terry Gordy
- Black Saturday
- Chris Colt
- Sandman
- Earthquake
- Harley Race
- Buff Bagwell
- Brutus Beefcake
WON revealed some of the episodes being covered in season five ahead of time, including the Bagwell and Beefcake topics. Interesting by its absence is a Kurt Angle episode. It was claimed that an episode about Angle would be a part of season five, but it seems those claims were inaccurate. Unfortunate as a Dark Side episode covering Angle and his struggles with addiction would have been fascinating, provided he was a part of the episode's creation.
Black Saturday
Even though there's no Angle, there are still a lot of very interesting topics being covered in season five, and as the trailer above shows, a lot of new and returning faces featured. Black Saturday is a particularly interesting pick as it's likely a lot of newer fans aren't aware of that particular part of wrestling history. It involves Vince McMahon buying Georgia Championship Wrestling purely for its timeslot on TBS after Ted Turner turned down the opportunity to have WWF programming on his network.
Sandman's episode will be another fascinating one, covering a wrestling character that simply couldn't exist today, and no matter how many times I hear about Beefcake's waterskiing accident, it never fails to floor me. Episode one will air on Vice on March 5, and there will likely be an episode each week after that at the same time. Again, no word yet on if there will be a mid-season break this time.
