He's unlikely to get the same kind of pop he received in Chicago on Saturday night, but CM Punk will be in attendance for Monday Night Raw this week. The show will emanate from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and Punk is sure to get a reaction from the live crowd, many of whom watched Survivor Series and were as shocked as the rest of the wrestling world when Punk made his WWE return.
WWE has confirmed that both Punk and Randy Orton -- who also made his return on Saturday -- will be on Raw Monday evening.
WWE is looking to capitalize on the buzz generated around the wresling world with Punk's return. He's got a storied history with the company and it whether it was storyline related or a real life issue between the two wrestlers, footage of Seth Rollins has gone around social media. He was visibly upset that Punk was back and it will be fascinating to see if Punk addresses that, or if WWE works an angle between these two. It's the match everyone wants to see and Rollins is the current World Champion. Will they have these two clash? Or, will real issues mean WWE keeps them away from each other for a the time being?
Matt Riddle Calls Out WWE For Bringing Back CM Punk
Matt Riddle seems to have taken issue with WWE hiring CM Punk back, calling them out for working with such a problematic superstar. No doubt, this is going to pop a massive rating for WWE. While Punk's issues behind the scenes have been public fodder for wrestling fans, when he first showed up in AEW, he helped them secure a big ratings boost. He also sold a ton of merchandise. The sooner WWE gets him out there and has him talk, the more fans will get an understanding of what's behind the return and how the company plans to use him.
What Will CM Punk Say?
Perhaps the most intriguing part about all of this is what Punk will say. He's publicly bashed WWE on a number of AEW programs and WWE loyalists may not be so quick to forget. Does he address all the negative things he said? Does he take a shot at AEW? Does he go after Rollins personally for what Rollins said about him? This is going to be a must-watch show.
