Chris Hemsworth Tells All About How He Will Become Hulk Hogan For Netflix Biopic

Chris Hemsworth has revealed that he will need to put on more size than he has ever put on before in order to become Hulk Hogan for Netflix's upcoming biopic.

The world of professional wrestling can often feel like one that is detached from other forms of sport and entertainment. Wrestling fans are often ridiculed for enjoying the business, quizzed as to how they can enjoy it. That makes it feel as if it is a very niche interest. Then WrestleMania rolls around and there are 100,000 of those ridiculed fans crammed into one stadium, and millions more watching around the world.

The truth is, no matter how niche an interest it may seem, wrestling is deeply rooted in pop culture and has been since the early 1980s. The likes of The Rock and John Cena have Hulk Hogan to thank for that. Hulkamania blew up when Hogan arrived in WWE and won the WWE Championship for the first time, exposing wrestling to the mainstream like never before.

The years that followed were so iconic that Netflix has decided to make a movie about that period. A biopic about The Hulkster where Chris Hemsworth, better known to some people as Thor from the MCU, will portray the Hall of Famer. Very little else has been revealed about the movie, but Hemsworth gave fans a little peep behind the curtain into his preparation via an interview with Total Film.

"As you can imagine, the preparation for the role will be insanely physical," Hemsworth revealed. "I will have to put on more size than I ever have before, even more than I put on for Thor." Anyone who has seen the shape Hemsworth was in to play Thor will know that surpassing that to have his body look more like Hogan's at its peak will take some doing.

As for when fans can expect to see the untitled movie arrive on Netflix, it sounds like the project is still a long way off. Hemsworth talks about the role as if he hasn't started training for it yet, and speaks in the same way when revealing he will have to delve into wrestling culture to educate himself for the role. Hemsworth also touched upon mastering Hogan's accent and changing his hair to get that signature Hulkster look. We can't wait.
