Camp Cretaceous Season 6 Happening?
Season 5 brings Netflix's animated Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous to a thrilling conclusion but here's everything we know about a possible season 6.
Warning: SPOILERS for Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Season 5
Will Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous return for season 6 on Netflix? Launched in 2020, Camp Cretaceous is canonically set in the Jurassic World universe, with the first season taking place concurrently with Colin Trevorrow's 2015 blockbuster and the rest of the show's events happening before the main story of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The series centers on six teenage Campers stranded in Jurassic World dubbed "the Nublar Six": Darius (Paul-Mikél Williams), Brooklynn (Jenna Ortega), Kenji (Ryan Potter), Ben (Sean Giambrone), Sammy (Raini Rodriguez), and Yasmina (Kausar Mohammed).
Camp Cretaceous season 5 saw the Nublar Six fighting to save the dinosaurs on Mantah Corp Island from Kenji's father, Daniel Kon (Andrew Kushino), whose company developed technology to mentally control the dinosaurs. Kon struck a business deal with BioSyn's CEO Lewis Dodgson (voiced by Andrew Harrington) but the teenage Campers foiled his scheme to sell his technology to BioSyn. Meanwhile, Darius' older brother, Brandon (Benjamin Flores Jr.) teamed up with the kids' season 1 camp counselors, Roxie (Jameela Jamil) and Dave (Glen Powell) to rescue the Nublar Six.
The ending of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous season 5 definitively concludes the story of the Nublar Six being stranded on islands overtaken by dinosaurs. However, can Camp Cretaceous and its young cast of lovable characters return for more? Here's everything we know about whether there will be a Camp Cretaceous season 6.
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Season 5 Is The Final Season
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous season 5 is the final season. Netflix announced season 5 was the end of the Camp Cretaceous series with its renewal and release date. The series has been a success for Netflix and helped maintain interest in the Jurassic World brand during the COVID-19 pandemic while Jurassic World Dominion was in production. Five seasons of Camp Cretaceous were produced from 2020-2022, but with Dominion wrapping up the Jurassic World movie trilogy, Camp Cretaceous inevitably had to conclude as well, and there is no season 6 in the works.
How Camp Cretaceous Connects To Jurassic World Dominion
Camp Cretaceous season 5 has several direct tie-ins to Jurassic World Dominion. In fact, Dominion left a key mystery - How Lewis Dodgson (Campbell Scott) had the Barbasol can he have to Dennis Nedry (Wayne Knight) in Jurassic Park - wide open for Camp Cretaceous season 5 to answer. Camp Cretaceous seasons 4 and 5 are also about how Mantah Corp developed the technology to remotely control dinosaurs, which BioSyn utilizes in Jurassic World Dominion. Camp Cretaceous season 5 even has an appearance by Dodgson to directly connect the events of the animated series with the final Jurassic World movie.
Will There Be Another Jurassic World Show Or Movie?
The Jurassic franchise is a crowd-pleasing blockbuster and a major intellectual property for Universal Pictures so it's extremely likely there will be another Jurassic movie and/or TV series down the line. Jurassic World Dominion concluded the trilogy Colin Trevorrow began in 2015 while also wrapping up the six-film cycle that started with Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park, but Dominion also left the door wide open for more stories to be told in a world where humans and dinosaurs are now co-existing.
Further, Jurassic World can continue in other forms of media until a new movie is announced. Camp Cretaceous is a very successful example of how the Jurassic brand can thrive as a TV series, and the well-received 2019 short film Battle at Little Big Rock as well as the prologue for Jurassic World Dominion released online showed how dinosaurs could wow audiences in different media formats. It's hard to believe there won't be more Jurassic movies made, and it's even possible they could involve the characters from the Nublar Six. But for now, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous ends with season 5 and there are currently no plans for season 6.
