Andy Cohen Claims Alex McCord ‘Went For Blood’ After Leaving RHONY

After being let go, Alex McCord and her husband Simon revealed some damaging information concerning production on The Real Housewives Of New York.

In a new tell-all book, Andy Cohen claimed Alex McCord and husband Simon Van Kempen “went for blood” after leaving The Real Housewives Of New York. Alex and Simon were original cast members on season 1 of the Bravo series, and viewers were mesmerized by their opulent New York lifestyle, as well as their supposed obsession with the elite circles of the city. In one episode, Alex and Simon went to the opera after Alex, now a psychologist, donned a stunning dress for the occasion. Later on, the couple pored over the society columns, to see Alex’s photo as she walked into the opera house.

Despite audiences’ immediate fascination with the couple, who spoke French with their child Francois, Alex was perhaps too nice for the group, and she didn’t provide enough drama to remain on the show after season 4. In many scenes, when Alex tried to confront people, her face would get red, and she’d stammer on her words. Some viewers felt sorry for the pair, who didn’t have the meanness that seemed to be expected of them.

Recently, Dave Quinn released a tell-all book, Not All Diamonds and Rosé: The Inside Story of The Real Housewives from the People Who Lived It, which revealed many secrets about the show from behind the scenes. In one of the interviews, Andy shared that Alex and Simon created a vlog after being let go from the franchise. The vlog detailed their reactions to each new episode, and Alex expressed her belief that production was manipulating the storylines. Andy was displeased with Alex’s words, and he labeled the behavior as “unprecedented." He also claimed Alex and Simon were going “for blood."

It seems Andy doesn’t like when housewives discuss the editing aspect of the show. After RHONY season 1, when Alex suggested producers had structured her scenes to make her look a particular way, Andy made his displeasure known. In one of the reunion episodes, when Alex explained to Andy that a certain scene happened at a different time than was suggested in the footage, Andy looked at her straight in the eye and told her it wasn’t true.

Every day, more and more details from Dave’s book are surfacing. Some of them are less flattering than Bravo might want. Tamra Judge shared that a producer told her to throw red wine in Jeana Keough’s face in an iconic scene on The Real Housewives Of Orange County. Tamra, like Alex, is no longer a castmate on the franchise, which is perhaps the only way they can get away with disclosing the information.

One can’t help but wonder if castmates like the famous Tamra are given nondisclosure agreements. In many reality shows, castmembers cannot share any details about production’s manipulation of the story arcs, which is apparently what Alex did after The Real Housewives Of New York. Most producers want viewers to believe the camera is like a fly on the wall, observing the unvarnished, unedited truth. But reality, it seems, is far more complicated.
