AEW's TNT Title Has Become A Joke
Despite once being treated as one of the most prestigious championships in all of professional wrestling, AEW's TNT Title has recently become a bit of a joke.

The championship has really suffered from poor booking, and several quick title changes over the last few months. As a result, it no longer feels like the special and important title that it originally was perceived to be.
It's not quite being treated with the same disdain as WWE's midcard titles, the Intercontinental and US championships have been, but if AEW continues to book it the way it recently has, it won't be long before fans do start looking at it in a similar light.
There Have Been Too Many Brief Title Reigns
What made the TNT Title feel so prestigious in its earlier days, was the successful, and important reigns that each champion seemed to have with the belt.
Reigns from Cody Rhodes, Darby Allin, and Miro all helped to make the title feel significant, and each had prolonged spells with the belt. They spent months building the title up during their time as champions, and as a result, it felt even more important when the championship changed hands.
Nowadays, the belt has suffered through several really brief championship reigns, and the title has been treated like a hot potato. Cody's final reign with the championship, Sammy Guevara's second reign, and Scorpio Sky's recent reign were all cut incredibly short, and none of them got the chance to really help build up the belt's prestige. Instead, it felt like the title was constantly changing hands, and it's contributed to damaging the level of importance that once surrounded it.
The issue is the lack of build the title changes are getting now, and it no longer feels special when a new champion is crowned as fans haven't been given enough time to really care about the championship reigns.
The Belt Has Recently Had Lackluster Champions
One major problem with the TNT Title nowadays is the recent list of champions has been really disappointing. In the championship's earlier days, each champion felt like a major player within AEW. Rhodes, Allin, Brodie Lee, and Miro all felt like main eventers and wouldn't have looked out of place wrestling against the biggest stars in the promotion.
That has soon changed though, and by the time Rhodes won the title for the third time, fans had completely turned on him, and he no longer felt like the franchise star he once did. Similarly, Sammy has seen his stature and popularity take a serious hit in recent months which has also contributed to the title losing its prestige. The Spanish God was one of the more popular babyfaces when he first won the title, but in just a matter of months fans, turned on the youngster, and his two subsequent reigns have been really disappointing.
While Scorpio Sky is a very talented wrestler, he hasn't been portrayed as anything close to a main event-level talent in AEW for quite some time, so his title victory was also a disappointing one. His reign with the belt was incredibly brief though, and he didn't even get a proper chance to put his stamp on the championship.
There Are Poor Storylines Surrounding The TNT Championship
Not since Miro has there been any interesting storylines revolving around the TNT Title. The championship has regularly been pushed to a side over the last few months. It's been treated like a prop, just existing, but not playing a major role, in feuds including the champion for a while now.
Whether it was Sammy focusing more on the Inner Circle's war with American Top Team last year, or him seemingly being more interested in securing a mixed tag team match alongside Tay Conti against the Men of the Year and Paige VanZant, than he is actually defending the title. It just hasn't been portrayed as something worth fighting for recently, and that has to change soon, or AEW risk doing long-term damage to its reputation.

There are several huge names in AEW that currently aren't doing all that much, so one way for AEW to fix a lot of the problems involving the TNT Title, and how poorly it's being received right now, is to give a popular figure like PAC, or Andrade a spell with the championship and allow them to really let loose with it around their waist.
Hell, even bringing back the TNT Title Open Challenge, and giving fans some incredible, fresh matchups would go a long way to repairing its prestige.
