10 Differences Between Goldberg In WCW & WWE

Goldberg came to the world of professional wrestling as a rookie back in 1997, and he took WCW by storm with his size, superhuman strength, and intensity. He rose to stardom after dismantling big names one after another, leading to one of the most popular winning streaks.

But after WCW went out of business, Goldberg signed for WWE back in 2003. He has had two different stints, and he is still part of the WWE roster as a part-timer. Goldberg has remained the same indestructible character throughout his career. However, there have been several disparities in his WCW and WWE booking.

10 More World Titles In WWE

Although Goldberg was the most dominant man in WCW, his world title cabinet wasn't impressive. During his famous streak, he won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. In his four years of WCW career, Goldberg won only one world title.

On the contrary, Goldberg has won more world titles in WWE. In his first stint, he captured the World Heavyweight Championship. Even after becoming a part-timer in his second stint, Goldberg has won the Universal Championship twice.

9 The Strength

Goldberg was arguably the strongest man on the roster when he was in WCW. With his monstrous physique, he could toss some big men. It wasn't a big deal for him to Gorilla Press or Jackhammer big men, with the most notable being the Jackhammer to The Giant.

While he still had the strength in his first WWE run, it wasn't quite the same. But his strength dropped significantly when he returned to WWE. Being over 50 years old, it wasn't easy to maintain the same strength.

8 The Working Schedule

In WCW, Goldberg started as a rookie and wanted to make a great career as a professional wrestler. Therefore, he was on the road every week, wrestling on every Nitro and pay-per-view.

But Goldberg's recent WWE run has been as a part-timer. With his current contract, he wrestles in two matches every year and makes sporadic appearances on RAW or SmackDown while having a feud. As he is a part-timer, he never wrestles on weekly shows nowadays.

7 Change Of Appearance

When Goldberg was in WCW, he was in his early 30s. Hence, he carried more muscle mass back then, and he also had huge traps. He was nearly 300 pounds at that time.

After arriving in WWE, his appearance changed a little bit. While he had almost a similar muscle mass in his first stint, he had a full beard in 2003. Also, he wore different white trunks at times. In his second WWE stint, his muscle mass dropped a lot, owing to his age. Also, he had a full grey beard due to his growing age.

6 The Streak

Goldberg's WCW streak was certainly the most notable feat of his wrestling career, which put him on the map. From his debut in 1997 to the end of 1998, Bill Goldberg was unbeaten until Kevin Nash finally put an end to it at the 1998 Starrcade pay-per-view following 173 consecutive wins.

On the other hand, Goldberg didn't have such an unbeaten streak in WWE. While he was undefeated for the first four months, it was nowhere close to the dream run in his early WCW days.

5 Maineventing Biggest Show Of The Year

Starrcade was the biggest pay-per-view of WCW, similar to WWE's WrestleMania. With all dream matches, Starrcade always garnered attention. Meanwhile, Goldberg main-evented Starrcade twice in his career. He was in the main event for two consecutive years in 1998 and 1999.

Goldberg also wrestled in WWE's biggest show, WrestleMania, numerous times. But he never truly main-evented one. The only time he came close to main-eventing the Show of Shows was WrestleMania 36. His Universal Championship match against Braun Strowman closed the show on Day 1. But the WWE Championship match closed the show the next day, so the Universal Championship match wasn't technically the main event of The Showcase of Immortals.

4 Tag Team Champion

Goldberg had a stupendous feud with Bret Hart in WCW. Just before their infamous Strarrcade match that ended Bret Hart's career, Goldberg teamed up with the former to win the WCW World Tag Team Titles.

On the other hand, Goldberg was never much of a tag team wrestler. While he competed in tag team matches in his maiden WWE run, those matches didn't have Tag Team Titles involved.

3 The Heel Turn

Goldberg has been a babyface for the majority of his career in WCW. But Vince Russo made him a heel once in 2000 when he turned on his pal, Kevin Nash, at The Great American Bash. While it didn't last long, he still turned into a bad guy for a while.

Conversely, Goldberg never turned heel in WWE in either of his stints. He has always been the hero, who would dismantle bad guys.

2 The Comedic Side

Being an indomitable monster, it was unfathomable that Goldberg would be part of comedic skits in WCW. He just showed up and decimated his opponents, while the crowd would cheer his name.

But the WWE version of Goldberg was part of comedic skits a couple of times, especially during his first run. While his segment with Gillberg was hilarious, he also wore a wig in a backstage segment with Goldust.

1 The Movesets

Goldberg was never a wrestler with a variety of moves. However, during his WCW days, he still had several more moves. Besides Spear and Jackhammer, he would use Gorilla Press Slam, Dropkick, Superkick, Gutbuster, and Clothesline at times.

The use of his maneuvers has significantly dropped in WWE. Nowadays, he only uses Spear and Jackhammer. He even fails to do a proper Jackhammer against big men.
