10 Best Quotes Of LA Knight's Career

Pro wrestling has a rich history of catchphrase machines, and that lineage runs right through LA Knight. With his irresistible charisma and impeccable delivery, WWE's Megastar has won over a global audience on the strength of his quotable quotes. Any time Knight screams "Yeah," spits "Let me talk to ya," and spells out his own name, the live crowd goes wild and the fans at home chant along.

But the genius of LA Knight goes beyond the classic hits. Throughout his 20-year career, Knight has proven his eloquence through powerful statements and stories that left thousands - if not millions - of jaws dropped. Any fan discovering the Megastar for the first time owes it to themselves to discover the many verbal gems that Knight has shared with the entire wrestling world.

10 Adam Pearce And Sweet Charlotte

As far as mic skills go, LA Knight has distinguished himself through his wit and wordplay. This was evident early on in his career, when he was trash-talking opponents on the independent circuit.

Take, for example, his verbal assault against then-NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce in the early 2010s. As his manager Percy Pringle looked on, Knight - who was going by his real name Shaun Ricker - had this to say: "You call that title Sweet Charlotte? Well you can call these hands 'Charlotte's Web.' And you can call me Wilbur, because I'm going home with the prize tonight, dummy."

9 A Promo About Mashed Potatoes (Seriously!)

Young Shaun Ricker was a pretty good storyteller. He was so skilled, in fact, that he once managed to boast about his abilities by using a tale about mashed potatoes.

During an NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood event, Ricker told a story about a dinner he had with his father and some buddies. When one of Ricker's friends offered a compliment for the mashed potatoes, Shaun's father apparently said, "There are two things that we Rickers do well. It's make mashed potatoes and kick a**." The future LA Knight then offered an assessment of his current skill level: "So far, I haven't gotten the mashed potatoes down. The second [thing]? We're done." Now that sounded delicious.

8 Paying Tribute To Percy

In March 2013, William Moody - better known to the wrestling world by the names Percy Pringle and Paul Bearer - passed away after suffering a heart attack. Moody's death struck a chord within the wrestling community, and it certainly had a profound impact on a man he'd mentored over the past two years.

Shortly after Moody's passing, Shaun Ricker poured his heart out at a CWFH event. "To imagine the fact that I watched this guy as a kid... and now the guy's thinking of me in his final hours... is beyond anything that I can ever describe." This quote is not the typical bravado-filled quip that Ricker is known for, but it definitely heightens his humanity and sincerity.

7 "We're Not Superstars"

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how Knight - then known as Slate Randall - felt when he was released from WWE in August 2014. Several months later, he managed to get back on his feet in TNA. Going under the name Eli Drake, he began to unleash his full potential, which WWE hadn't quite seen during his first stint there.

With his confidence rising to unprecedented levels, Drake decided to take a shot at WWE during a 2015 episode of Impact Wrestling. Standing next to his allies Drew Galloway and Micah, Drake proclaimed, "We're not three robots who were cut out in a factory. We're not SUPERSTARS. We are professional wrestlers!"

6 "Shoes Of A Champion"

While Eli Drake had no qualms ridiculing foes and fans alike, there was one memorable scene in which he laughed at himself. This self-deprecation made Drake's personality even more magnetic.

Case in point: Drake knew exactly how he messed up while delivering a promo on NWA Powerrr. In the promo, Drake bragged, "These right here are the shoes of a champion." Turning his back to the camera, Drake added, "This jacket right here...shoes of a champion." Quickly realizing his mistake, Drake asked the live audience, "Wait, did I say 'shoes of a champion?'" Befittingly, they responded, "YEAH!"

5 "Don't Call Me That!"

The May 20, 2022 episode of SmackDown saw the debut of Max Dupri, the manager of a brand that would be known as Maximum Male Models. Dupri aligned himself with Mace and Mansoor (whose personas underwent total makeovers as well) and brought his sister Maxxine (the former Sofia Cromwell) into the fold.

The existence of Max Dupri, however, was short-lived. On the October 7 edition of SmackDown, after attacking Mace and Mansoor backstage, the once and future Megastar let Maxxine know whose game it is. "You think I'm just gonna hang out here and pretend to be something I'm not? Nah nah! What I'm not, Max. What I am, who I am... L. A. Knight. YEAH."

4 A Map For Logan Paul

When the LA Knight phenomeon swept through the WWE in the summer of 2023, there might have been some fans who worried about getting a watered down Megastar experience. Knight quickly dashed these doubts by displaying his inimitable wit night in and night out.

Leading up to the 2023 Men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match, Knight made sure that Logan Paul knew exactly what he thought of the energy drink mogul. "I'll tell you what, Logan Paul. I brought you a little gift. It's a map. If you follow this, you'll find the exact directions where you can stick each and every one of those bottles of Prime. YEAH."

3 LA Knight, The Thoroughbred

Years from now, wrestling fans will look fondly at the rise of LA Knight in WWE and realize the vital role played by the dastardly Mike Mizanin. The Miz is an excellent foil for the Megastar, as everyone came to find out on Raw.

Resentful of the fans' support for Knight, Miz brought up the trials and tribulations that he overcame in his career. Knight, though, wasn't having any of it. "I've been clawing, scratching, doing everything I needed to do, on the outside looking in," said Knight. "While this place bet on all the wrong horses, YOU being one of them." Fans would be hard-pressed to find more sincere words that ever came out of the 20-year veteran's mouth.

2 The Present And The Future

Is it any surprise that some of LA Knight's best mic work came during his heated rivalry with The Miz? Exchanging verbal barbs with the former WWE Champion has truly brought out the best in Knight.

On the September 1, 2023 episode of SmackDown, The Miz called himself "a human time-traveler" who would send LA Knight back to his years of struggle on the independent scene. Knight, however, had the perfect comeback for Miz's quip. "While you live in the past, I'm living me. So, go ahead and get in your little time machine. Go as far away as you can, because your present is trash. Your future's about to get worse...because tomorrow, at Payback...you will get stomped out!"

1 Let's Talk About Adjectives (Or Not)

Apparently, not even WWE Hall of Famers can make LA Knight flinch. Using the platform of his Kliq THIS podcast, Kevin Nash has called Knight "an absolute ripoff of The Rock" and deemed him a "bottom feeder" that took way too long to make it in the business.

Never one to back away from a war of words, Knight made sure that everyone watching on primetime would hear his rebuttal loud and clear. On the September 8, 2023 episode of SmackDown, Knight made a side comment related to lyrics in The Miz's theme song. "How's that song of his go? 'I came to play,'" said Knight. "If I was a complete moron, I'd say, 'Let's look at that adjective.' But I'm not a moron, so I'm gonna say, 'Let's look at that verb - play!'"" This was a likely a reference to an infamous 1996 promo in which Big Sexy mixed up his verbs and adjectives. Bottom line: no one is safe from the articulate wrath of LA Knight.
