10 AEW Wrestlers You Forgot Wore Some Ugly Wrestling Gear

The AEW roster is a brilliant one that has a lot of talent with fantastic in-ring quality that has helped to develop the company to become legitimate competition for WWE. While the focus of any wrestling show is the wrestling ability and the promo skills, fans put attention to the gear that they wear.

While many of the wrestlers always look the part when they appear inside the ring, there are plenty that have worn some terrible ring gear over the years, whether that be as part of AEW, or something that they wore during their time before joining the company.

10 William Regal

William Regal worst gear

William Regal is an experienced wrestler who has spent years in the business wearing a large variety of ring gear, but for the most part, he kept things very simple with trunks throughout his career. However, during his time as the King of the Ring, he decided to switch things up for some reason, wearing a singlet.

It was a bad call because it just didn't look good, and there is a reason that he didn't continue wearing it on a long-term basis. It was a look that simply didn't suit him, and there is a reason why people have typically forgotten this look for him.

9 Eddie Kingston

eDDIE kNIGSTON BAD RING GEAR

Eddie Kingston isn't someone who puts tons of focus on his ring gear and making sure he looks the fanciest out of everybody on the roster. Instead, it is all about the in-ring action for him, and that was clear at Full Gear when he faced Jon Moxley, as he appeared in poor-looking ring gear.

While Kingston was trying to pay tribute to Mitsuharu Misawa, which was a great touch, it unfortunately just didn't look good. No matter the effort that he put into getting the color right, the style itself didn't work in a way that made him look like a main event player.

8 Dustin Rhodes

Artist Formerly Known As Goldust Cropped

Dustin Rhodes has never been afraid of pushing buttons and trying to be as creative as possible with the ring gear that he wears, particularly during his days as The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust. This saw him truly go to the next level, and while that was the point, it simply didn't look good.

He wore a variety of different clothes at this point, and it never made people think that he looked good. Instead, fans would question everything that he had on, with the style not getting over with the WWE Universe. It was purposefully shocking, but that doesn't mean that it was good.

7 Orange Cassidy

Fire Ant in action

When it comes to Orange Cassidy, fans are used to him looking a certain way with the jeans and a t-shirt, which has connected with audiences. It's a unique look, but it isn't the way that he has always dressed inside the ring as he worked as Fire Ant on the independent scene.

This saw him compete under a mask that was made to look like an insect, and while it was certainly unique it isn't the style that would have led to him being taken seriously as a main event wrestler.

6 Jon Moxley

Dean Ambrose in FCW

Jon Moxley is someone that brings a very casual style to the ring, which has been the case dating back to his main roster run in WWE. He likes to come in, fight, and then leave. He isn't the type of wrestler to be over the top with his gear, and the simple attitude suits his personality that he has.

However, during his time in FCW, the former AEW World Champion ended up wearing trunks which was a more simple look for him. Despite that, this isn't gear that suits him well, and it just didn't look good for him which is why it was ditched in WWE and AEW.

5 Brock Anderson

Simple ring gear can be effective at times, but that hasn't been the case when it comes to Brock Anderson to this point. Because his personality isn't larger than life, having very bland ring gear is something that doesn't help to make him stand out, which he needs right now.

The simple trunks with his initials put on them is basic, and while that might be to the taste of plenty, many fans simply don't care about it. Rather than getting people talking, it is something that just falls flat each time.

4 Jeff Hardy

Willow The Whisp

Jeff Hardy is an eccentric person, and that is showcased by the ring gear that he wears and the face paint that he brings to the ring. However, not every version of his character has looked great and that was on display when he took on the Willow gimmick.

This is a character that Hardy himself is very proud of, but overall it does not look brilliant, with the mask simply being too big and clunky overall in comparison to others in the business.

3 Paul Wight

Akebono Big Show

Paul Wight has always been willing to dress up and look foolish, making a joke out of himself when needed at times. However, at WrestleMania 21 he was pushed to another level as he competed in a sumo match, which saw him dressed in the traditional clothing.

It was a moment that didn't make Wight look like a dominant monster that he always should be, and that is a situation that many people tend to forget about, with this easily being his worst ring gear.

2 CM Punk

CM Punk Cropped

CM Punk always had reliable ring gear during his time in WWE, but since joining AEW he has seemingly struggled to land on something consistent. He's gone from trunks to longer pants, but the worst of the lot was when he blended an MMA style short with his classic design.

It's something that didn't quite work, mainly because Punk's MMA career simply wasn't good enough for people to care about him bringing elements of that back. Fans like to see Punk in the standard trunks, and that's something that should return if he does step back into the ring.

1 Keith Lee

Keith Lee Akira Tozawa

Keith Lee is one of the most physically imposing wrestlers of the current generation, and that is something that he should always showcase when he wrestles. It makes everything he does even more impressive, but for some reason when he was moved to WWE's main roster the company covered it all up.

Throwing him in a singlet was a terrible decision that was made even worse when he got the random Bearcat nickname. He ended up with claw marks all over his gear, which left fans puzzled. Thankfully, that is something he has switched up from since joining AEW, and that was the right call.
