10 24/7 Champions Who Were Actually Great Wrestlers
The WWE decided to introduce the 24/7 Championship almost a year ago as this generation's version of the Hardcore Championship. After enjoying some initial success on the backs of the R-Truth and Drake Maverick, the title has quickly faded into the background though.

These days, it is often used to bring some mainstream attention to the WWE as celebrities like Enes Kanter, Rob Gronkowski, Marshmello, and Kyle Busch have been given the title in the recent past. Yet, that doesn't mean that it has not been held by some great wrestlers as well. Here we take a look at 10 great wrestlers who have held the 24/7 Championship.
10 R-Truth
R-Truth has become synonymous with the 24/7 Championship over the past year, having won it a remarkable 27 times. It is even arguable that it is his comedy work that has managed to keep the title relevant till now.
Having spent the past several years in the WWE as mostly a comedic character, many fans actually forget how great of a wrestler R-Truth was in his prime. He even won the NWA Heavyweight Championship twice during his time in TNA as Ron Killings. Those days are now behind him, though, and it is very likely that he'll spend the rest of his career in his current role.
9 Robert Roode
When WWE managed to sign Robert Roode, many fans thought that he would be a main event player in the company. After all, there are not many, if any holes in Roode's game, but things have just not clicked for him.
Instead, he has been stuck in a mid-card hell after finding some initial success in the company during his time in NXT. He is closer to the 24/7 Championship right now to the WWE championship, and that is an absolute shame for a man who has been often compared to Arn Anderson.
8 Heath Slater
Another wrestler who ended up spending his entire WWE career in a comedy role, many forget that he was pushed as a serious wrestler during his initial run in the company after coming through NXT when it was presented as a reality show.
Soon, though, the WWE discovered his brilliant comic timing, and he was stuck in that role since then. It's a shame, as he did have great potential as a wrestler and had a legitimate background in boxing. Having been released by the company earlier this year, it looks like he'll remain the only member of 3MB to never win the WWE Championship.
7 Cedric Alexander
WWE signed Cedric Alexander along with a number of other cruiserweights when they attempted to revive the division. One of the most talented wrestlers on 205 Live, he enjoyed a long reign as the Cruiserweight Champion, but it soon became clear that the division was not going to set the world on fire.
As a result, a lot of the cruiserweights were left floundering on the roster, and many of them were released. Alexander did manage to get called up to Raw. But, after an initial push, he has not had much to do on the main roster, which is a shame, as he could do so much more for the company if they used him to his full potential.
6 EC3
EC3 might not be the best wrestler in the world, but he can hold his own in the ring. It was his character, the spoilt nephew of Dixie Carter in TNA, though that caught the eye of wrestling fans. He was, without a doubt, a World Championship level talent during his time there, and he earned himself a return to WWE.

Just like the last time, though, WWE completely missed the boat on EC3. He was given little to nothing to work with on the main roster and has been released since. He does have a few reigns as 24/7 Champion to show for his time in the company, at least.
5 Pat Patterson
A great wrestler during his time, Pat Patterson was the first man to hold the Intercontinental Championship. After retiring from in-ring action over three decades ago, he has been in a backstage role in the WWE and even created the Royal Rumble match. He has been described as Vince McMahon's right-hand man, as well.
At 78 years of age, Patterson managed to win the 24/7 Championship, becoming the oldest man ever to hold a belt in the WWE as a result, and it is safe to say that that record will not be broken anytime soon.
4 Gerald Brisco
Another great wrestler from his era, Gerald Brisco was one half of the legendary Brisco Brothers. The duo came to the WWE in 1984 but decided to retire from the ring the following year. Brisco was with the company in a backstage role since then before being released earlier this year.
Despite being retired for years, Brisco did enjoy a resurgence in the late 90s as an onscreen stooge of Vince McMahon along with Pat Patterson. So, who better to take the 24/7 Championship off of Patterson other than his longtime partner-in-crime?
3 Kane
Kane spends these days as the Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee. That does not stop the future Hall of Famer from cropping up on WWE television once in a while though and it was during one of these appearances that he won the 24/7 Championship.

A man who has done absolutely everything that there is to do in the wrestling business, this was his only championship win as Mayor Glenn Jacobs though. And, at this point in his career, it is unlikely that he will hold any other title anytime soon.
2 Ted Dibiase
Ted Dibiase is one of the most hated heels in the history of wrestling and an absolute icon of WWE. While The Million Dollar Man was never great at winning Championships on his own, he always managed to use his money to get himself a few, even creating his own championship belt at one point.
Dibiase was famous for having bought the WWE Championship from Andre The Giant merely seconds after he had won it, and he repeated his old trick with the 24/7 Championship, as well, when he paid Alundra Blayze for the belt. As you know, everybody's got a price for The Million Dollar Man!
1 The Revival
In the eyes of many, The Revival are the greatest Tag Team of their generation. WWE has failed their Tag Team division for decades, though, and, as a result, the two never ended up becoming the stars that they should have been and ultimately ended up asking for their release from the company.
While Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder are both fabulous wrestlers in their own right, they make this list together since they were joint 24/7 Champions. The fact that the WWE saw it fit to put them in the midst of this comedy fest just shows how badly they were booked on the main roster.
