- WWE is still figuring out the direction for Lashley's group and has yet to make decisive moves to propel Jones into the spotlight.
While that group may one day grow, it sounds like WWE is not yet looking to expand the trio of Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits. Either that, or they are being extremely selective in who they include, having already turned down a pitch for one member to become the fourth in a potentially dominating faction.
According to a report, WWE's and NXT's Odyssey Jones was considered for the group. As per Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select), it looks like any plans are either off or WWE has squashed the idea. He notes that it was mentioned backstage that Jones could be a potential addition to Bobby Lashley's group alongside the Street Profits. However, no progress has been made on that front, leaving Jones' return to television uncertain.
Jones was drafted by RAW in the 2023 WWE Draft. Intitial plans for his run were put on hold almost immediately. Now, he might be making a switch to SmackDown. A couple of recent backstage sightings and appearances at live events have fueled speculation about Jones debuting on Friday nights. Naturally, with Lashley and The Profits on the blue brand, questions popped up again. But, while Jones' undeniable talent and potential make him a promising addition to any roster, WWE has yet to make decisive moves to propel him into the spotlight.
WWE Needs To Lean Into Fan Reaction & Make Bobby Lashley A Babyface
WWE is trying to make Bobby Lashley a heel, but with fans refusing to boo him, his SmackDown booking needs to change.According to Fightful, Jones is still waiting for creative plans to materialize for him. An idea of him joining the group was reportedly rejected, prompting the need for alternative plans. It's not entirely clear why, but part of the reason could be that WWE is rethinking about how they present the group. Lashley is being heavily cheered despite WWE's attempts to position him as a heel.
What Is Next For Lashley's Group?
While there's been no official announcement on television regarding Jones' potential move to SmackDown, behind the scenes, WWE is actively working to figure out exactly what to do with Lashley's group. It's been up and down as he recruited then booted the Street Profits. They are back now, but not working as heels. There have been teases that B-Fab might join, but not much has been developed with that storyline.
