WWE Not Happy With WrestleMania 37 Ticket Sales

It's been reported that WWE isn't very happy with the way tickets for WrestleMania 37 sold. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, people in the company were left disappointed over sales for both nights of the upcoming event.

Tickets for the PPV that will mark the return of fans to WWE wrestling became available last month but they did not sell out immediately, much to the chagrin of people within the promotion.

Of course, that shouldn't have been a surprise. As much as people are excited to return to such events, the pandemic is still going on and folks aren't as keen on traveling as they used to be. As for tickets selling out, that was never in doubt - WWE was just disappointed with the speed at which they were exchanged for cash.

"Live event tickets sold almost completely in the presale. At press time, nine days before the show, there were 1,000 tickets left for Saturday and 809 tickets left for Sunday, so both will almost certainly sell out of their allotment of tickets that were originally put on sale. We still don’t know what that number is. We do know that expectations were that they would do a UFC 261-like immediate sellout with huge demand for the first events back with ticketed fans due to the pent-up demand, and there is disappointment that didn’t happen. But it’s a weird time. Less people are willing to travel and in particular coming from the key overseas markets is very difficult due to quarantine rules."

A Specific Match Is Unlikely To Be Added

WrestleMania 37 will take place at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, on April 10-11.

Meltzer has also reported that a women's Battle Royale will not be added to the card as there aren't enough women on the roster. "Charlotte Flair, Bayley, Peyton Royce, Alexa Bliss, Billie Kay, Carmella and Reckoning (Mia Yim) are the only women not accounted for," he noted.
