WWE Higher-Ups Pushing For Tag Title Match To Main Event WrestleMania Night One

The main event of WrestleMania night two has pretty much been confirmed since Cody Rhodes won the men's Royal Rumble. Even with Sami Zayn providing a potential roadblock, Rhodes versus Roman Reigns for all the marbles was always going to close the weekend. However, with less than two weeks to go, it seems a decision is yet to be made regarding what will close night one.

Headlining Night One

There were reports last week that WWE had decided on Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair closing night one. Fightful Select (via Cultaholic) has now refuted those reports. Apparently, a decision is yet to be made, and quite a few people with sway are pushing for the Tag Team Title match between The Usos and Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens to close night one.

As for why WWE is yet to confirm which match will close night one with so little time left to go, that might have something to do with the tag match not being made official yet. Owens embraced Zayn on SmackDown last week, seemingly confirming the match will actually happen. Many fans seem to think if it is going to happen, it deserves to main event night one, solidifying just how big an angle The Bloodline's run has been.

Should The Rumble Winners Main Event WrestleMania?

Other fans are using the counterargument that winning the Royal Rumble is supposed to come with a WrestleMania main event, therefore Ripley and Flair should headline the show. It certainly wouldn't be the first time a Royal Rumble winner hasn't closed WrestleMania, though. In fact, that not happening is pretty commonplace, and a Rumble win simply means a title match at WrestleMania, despite how WWE likes to word it during the build.

It seems with time running out, WWE is struggling to make a decision. Honestly, both options are viable, and while either will disappoint some fans, clearly whichever match they pick will also please a lot of people. Perhaps it will depend on whether a title change is planned in those matches. The Usos beating Zayn and Owens would likely deflate the crowd with nothing more to come until night two kicks off the following day.
