WWE Has Huge Plans For Randy Orton And Riddle Split [Report]
Since the day Randy Orton and Riddle were put together in an odd-couple pairing, the thought was they would eventually split. A team with so much chemistry, they've been a hit on WWE programming and one of the most entertaining parts of Raw each week. Because of how well the unit has clicked, the original plans for their disintegration have been changed, according to one report.
Per @WrestleVotes, not only is WWE rethinking about how they want to split the two up, there has been some thought about not splitting them up at all. They write, "WWE had plans since the pairing began last spring for Riddle vs Randy Orton @ SummerSlam, which didn’t happen. Plan was to hold off til Mania. I’m told now only a handful of creative members want to spilt them, w/ the idea that if the match happens, it should be for the WWE title."
This is big. First, if the team isn't broken up, one can only speculate it's because they work so well together, their merchandise sales are through the roof and both men are enjoying the dynamic. Second, if they are split, WWE sees this as a huge development and wants it to headline their biggest show of the year. That means getting Riddle to a point where he's considered a marketable star to headline a WrestleMania and moving the championship out of the hands of either Bobby Lashley or Roman Reigns (or whomever else might hold the belts at that time.)

This Or Next Year's WrestleMania?
Clearly, the question now is, can this storyline be put together in time for this year's Showcase of the Immortals? Or, would this be something that would have to wait until next year? If the latter, WWE can start the build well ahead of the event and really hype it up. It might be tight to tell the story WWE wants to tell in just a few short months from now. At the same time, there's no guarantee this duo will stay as hot as they are now for a full year.
