WWE Filmed Cody Rhodes Content For Documentary On His Injury

WWE is seemingly preparing a documentary centering around Cody Rhodes' torn pectoral injury that will keep him sidelined for a lengthy period of time.

The American Nightmare defeated Seth Rollins at Sunday's HIAC pay-per-view. The match was well-received by the WWE Universe and critics, and Rhodes' performance was especially remarkable as he gutted through the painful torn pectoral injury. He underwent successful surgery this week and is expected to miss about nine months of action.

According to a report from Fightful Select (h/t Ringside News), WWE filmed content and performed interviews "for an eventual documentary" on his injury.

Rhodes' injury is simply a major blow to WWE. Everything regarding his return has been a massive success up to this point, and it was quite obvious that the company had special plans for him. After all, the soon-to-be 37-year-old superstar has yet to lose a match in his second WWE tenure.

Dave Meltzer reported in this week's edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required) that Rhodes is "the most likely" opponent for Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 if Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson doesn't compete at The Showcase of Immortals.

If Rhodes is out of action for nine months, that means he wouldn't be back until after the Royal Rumble 2022 event, but at least before WrestleMania weekend. There's simply no replacing Rhodes during this lengthy absence, and WWE will have to find a way to make do without the beloved superstar for the remainder of 2022.

Cody Rhodes' Second Go With WWE Has Been A Game-Changer

Rhodes was the first major former AEW star to come over to WWE since the start of the "Wednesday Night Wars." Over the last three years, Tony Khan and company were successful in bringing over plenty of former top WWE talents. But Vince McMahon and company flipped the switch by bringing back Rhodes, who looks poised to do very special things in his second tenure here.
