WWE Edits SmackDown Footage Of Bad Bunny's WWF Logo Jacket
The WWE roster arrived in Puerto Rico a little early this week since not only will Backlash emanate from there a few hours from now, but SmackDown also took place in Puerto Rico on Friday. The show ended in explosive fashion as Bad Bunny, who will face Damian Priest in a San Juan Street Fight, helped The LWO chase off The Judgment Day, becoming an honorary member of the Rey Mysterio-led group.
Bad Bunny's Jacket
If you've not caught up on this week's SmackDown, you can check out the aftermath below courtesy of a video posted on WWE's Twitter account. What you'll immediately notice is certain parts of Bad Bunny's jacket have been pixelated. Older fans, like myself, will likely be able to tell what's hiding under those pixels even if they weren't watching the show live.

The reason WWE has censored a jacket is because it has a couple of its old WWF scratch logos on it. WWE was forced to change its logo, and its name, in 2002 after it lost a court case against the World Wildlife Fund, a UK charity that has been the only company legally allowed to use the WWF acronym ever since. However, as highlighted by WrestleTalk, the photos from SmackDown posted on WWE.com include the scratch logo.
Photos Are Okay, Apparently
While it's unclear why WWE needed to pixelate the logo in the video and not the photos is unclear, there have been changes made to the agreement between WWE and the World Wildlife Fund since the original ruling was enforced. Around 2012, the two sides agreed that WWE could once again show its old logos in footage that was taped before the lawsuit took place. That's why all the logos aren't awkwardly blurred out in archive footage anymore.
Showing the logo in brand-new footage, however, is clearly a no-go. Perhaps the ruling simply doesn't apply to still images. How the jacket managed to get out in front of cameras in the first place might well be the biggest mystery of all. It seems unlikely Bad Bunny would try and sneak it past WWE brass. My guess is Triple H and co got a look at it and decided WWE's relationship with Bad Bunny is worth whatever hit might be coming their way for showing the logo on live television.
