WrestleMania 10 Title Changes You Totally Forgot Ever Happened

Unfortunately, not every title change that happens is a memorable and momentous one. WrestleMania has had many titles changes hands over the years. Some of the same titles have even changed hands in the same night!

Over the years, WrestleMania has had some of the biggest and best title matches all year round. Some of these matches aren’t even bad, but the circumstances surrounding them and the Mania they were a part of have made them less than memorable over the years. Here are 10 title changes you totally forgot ever happened at a WrestleMania.

10 Yokozuna Wins WWF Title - WrestleMania IX

WrestleMania IX is usually regarded as one of the least memorable WrestleManias in history, let alone in title changes. The lasting image of Hulk Hogan defeating Yokozuna not only completely negated any of the hard work Bret Hart had done since winning the title. It also made the fact that Yoko beat him for it completely less than memorable and Hogan's win is all that's remembered.

9 The Undertaker Wins WWF Title - WrestleMania 13

For the first time in over five years, The Undertaker was back on top as the WWF Champion. He also had main evented WrestleMania for the first time, challenging Sid for the strap.

But the prior match to the main event was Stone Cold Steve Austin against Bret Hart in a Submission Match. If you somehow haven’t seen or heard about it, dig out from that hole you’ve been living in for 23 years and watch the match that singlehandedly began to usher in The Attitude Era. It makes people forget what The Undertaker did that night.

8 Demolition Wins The Tag Team Titles - WrestleMania IV

When Strike Force found a way to beat the Hart Foundation for the tag titles in late 1987, they shocked the world. They took that momentum as a mega babyface team all the way into WrestleMania IV, but they lost to Demolition, as Ax and Smash began their then-record breaking run at the top. But fans all know what WrestleMania IV was all about. It was all about seeing Miss Elizabeth hold Macho Man’s newly won WWF Title as he hoisted her onto his shoulders.

7 Cactus Jack And Chainsaw Charlie Win Tag Titles - WrestleMania XIV

Four men were trying to make their mark during the beginnings of The Attitude Era and two of them were besties who loved to fight each other. Then, The New Age Outlaws hurled Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie off the stage in a locked dumpster, naturally setting up Dumpster Match at WrestleMania XIV. The very same WrestleMania that Austin defeated HBK and Mike Tyson knocked Shawn Michaels out. The very same WrestleMania that one night later, Cactus and Funk’s win was completely negated due to a questionable finish.

6 Kevin Owens Wins US Title - WrestleMania 33

Despite the wonderfully received “Festival Of Friendship,” which was some of Jericho’s finest work during his last run in the WWE, the match between Y2J and KO at WrestleMania 33 was a great way to showcase both men’s talents and allowed Jericho to help give the rub to KO by doing the favors.

However, the match went on second, during an overly long event and had to follow AJ Styles Vs. Shane McMahon. The match simply got lost in the shuffle.

5 Triple H Wins Undisputed Title - WrestleMania X8

In 2002, Triple H returned from a career-threatening quad injury. WrestleMania X8 was the glorious return to the top of the mountain for him. It was also the first time that Jericho headlined the event. However for both men, the unthinkable happened. The entire show became solely about one match - Icon Vs. Icon, The Rock Vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan. The Toronto crowd was completely spent after cheering for their two heroes. They had very little interest in anything else, and very little could have swayed their attention.

4 John Cena Wins World Title - WrestleMania XXV

Similar to the above entry, WrestleMania XXV not surprisingly became all about one match - Shawn Michaels against The Undertaker. Ask most fans what they remember about this show and that would be their answer. Despite Cena delivering The Attitude Adjustment to both of his opponents at once, having to follow the instant classic meant an uphill battle that neither of the night’s World Title matches were ever going to climb.

3 Every Hardcore Title Switch - WrestleMania 2000 & WrestleMania X8

The Hardcore Title has plenty of fun moments, most of which came from seeing how Crash Holly would be able to escape with the food. The title was defended at several WrestleManias, most notably in a few three ways and a Battle Royal. But plenty more of the action spilled out onto the floor and throughout the arena all night long. Despite some memorable skits, fans would be hard pressed to find a memorable victory.

2 Mr. Kennedy Wins Money In The Bank - WrestleMania 23

It’s not a title exactly, but the Money In The Bank briefcase was a big part of several WrestleManias before becoming its own event.

Mr. Kennedy had the rocket strapped to him. However, injuries and a presumed bad working style backstage not only curtailed his WWE career, but he was the first man to actually lose the briefcase in a match.

1 The Big Show Wins The Intercontinental Title - WrestleMania XXVIII

WrestleMania XXVIII was an improvement over the prior year. But it was based around three big main events - CM Punk Vs. Chris Jericho, HHH Vs. The Undertaker, and the first meeting between The Rock and John Cena. It also became the birth of The Yes Movement. A match between The Big Show and Cody Rhodes was certainly forgettable, but it did yield Netflix’s newest star his first IC Title.
