Why Kevin Owens Going To WWE SmackDown Is A Bad Call
Highlights
- Kevin Owens' constant moves between brands suggest a lack of direction in his character, making it difficult for fans to invest in his storylines.
- Despite his constant shifts, Owens has achieved overwhelming success and proven his doubters wrong by defeating top stars like Roman Reigns and John Cena.
- Owens' move to SmackDown may not be beneficial for him, as he will have to face the dominant Roman Reigns and The Bloodline, as well as compete with the star power on the show. It's time for WWE to give Owens the push he deserves.
Kevin Owens has once again shifted to a different brand in a short time, joining the SmackDown as part of a trade. As he was recently among the featured performers on Monday Night Raw teaming with Sami Zayn, it appears Owens is once again on his own, having to deal with the dominance of Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and The Bloodline. Owens has achieved so much throughout his WWE career, especially headlining WrestleMania 38 against "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. However, it's worth mentioning that Kevin Owens' constant moves from one brand to another over the years haven't made his on-screen character look good, as some might feel it indicates a lack of direction regarding creative booking. In fact, Owens going to SmackDown may not do him much, considering the level of star power on the show and the obstacles he's faced when feuding with Roman Reigns and The Bloodline.

Kevin Owens' WWE Success Despite Many Hurdles
Kevin Owens may have gone through many hurdles as a WWE superstar, but he did achieve overwhelming success for someone who doesn't have the look of a stereotypical professional wrestler. A former world champion, Owens has proved his doubters wrong by hanging with the best of the modern generation of the professional wrestling industry. Over the years of his WWE career, Kevin Owens has defeated the likes of Roman Reigns and John Cena in classic bouts, including his first match on the main roster in 2015 when he defeated John Cena clean on PPV.
Owens has had a long list of memorable moments, as no one could take away the fact that he headlined WrestleMania 38 when he faced WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in a No Holds Barred match, which was Austin's first match since retiring at WrestleMania 19. Because of all he accomplished, no matter how Owens may get booked moving forward, especially as he's now once again shifted over to the SmackDown brand, he can retire today and be considered a major success story in WWE.

Kevin Owens Moves To SmackDown In A Trade
Kevin Owens getting traded to the blue brand means he's officially split from Raw's Sami Zayn, with whom he had recent success when they headlined WrestleMania 39, defeating The Usos for the Undisputed Tag Team Championship. But despite he and Zayn being among the top acts on Raw when they dominated the tag team division for a good part of 2023, Kevin Owens now has to fend for himself on the blue brand.
One of the last things Owens did when he was a member of the SmackDown roster from late 2020 to early 2021 was being one of the earliest rivals of Roman Reigns when he first began his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship reign, but he suffered multiple losses during their rivalry. With Reigns still on the SmackDown brand and holding his title for over a thousand days, Kevin Owens would have to deal with him and The Bloodline if he challenges Reigns again. Owens moving to SmackDown also means he's going against a high level of star power on that show, especially with a popular act like LA Knight getting pushed as the top babyface.

Since the relaunch of the brand split in 2016, Kevin Owens has made so many moves to the opposite brand that it's almost impossible not to notice. One could argue Kevin Owens constantly moving from one brand to another after a short period indicates a lack of direction in his character, as it gets more difficult for fans to get invested in whatever he's doing on the show when you don't know if he's even going to be around the next month.
Despite Kevin Owens' long list of accomplishments in his WWE career, if there's one thing fans can take out of his constant shifts from SmackDown to Raw and back again, it's the fact that if he's this directionless, it means he's not pushed to his fullest potential. Now that he's back on SmackDown, unless WWE can make Kevin Owens' move to the blue brand make sense, it's understandable why many fans may not be as interested in his return as they could be. Owens isn't going to be around forever. Now is the time for giving him the huge push he deserves.
