Why Dominik Mysterio Is The Perfect WWE Wrestler To Win Money In The Bank

Quick Links

Dominik Mysterio is the living embodiment of the WWE Universe's collective animosity. To the surprise of many, Dominik has arrived in 2023 as the most hated heel in professional wrestling. Dom went from a bland babyface to one of the vilest villains on television, going from an underdeveloped rookie to someone who can hold his own against WWE's top stars.

Violently betraying his father earned Dominik the ire of the WWE Universe, giving the young star nuclear heat whenever he makes his presence known on WWE programming. Dom Dom has become a walking heat magnet after ditching his dad Rey Mysterio for the dark collective known as The Judgment Day. But maybe there's a way to make Dominik even more disdained by wrestling fans. If WWE were to book their most hated wrestler to win the men's ladder match, the heat may reach unprecedented levels, and that's why Dominik would be perfect as Mr. Money In The Bank.

At this point, there may be no way for Dominik not to be booed. Even before he opens his mouth to speak, the 26-year-old star is met with a chorus of boos. When it comes to being a heel, Dominik has proven himself in a short time span why he's a villainous prodigy.

For the most part, wrestling fans cheer when it seems like someone will be cashing in their Money In The Bank contract. However, if Dom Dom is the one with the contract, it's hard to imagine many of the crowd cheering on the moment he cashes in. Dominik is totally nailing the role of the slimeball heel, and he'd make a once-exciting moment like a MITB cash-in into a tragedy for the WWE Universe. The heat that Dominik is receiving right now is extraordinary and on par with Mr. McMahon's Attitude Era heat and Roman Reigns' heat the night after defeating The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33.

The Damian Priest Dilemma At Money In The Bank

A member of The Judgment Day is scheduled to compete in the MITB ladder match, and it's not Dominik. Damian Priest, who has lately been showing strong babyface characteristics, has qualified for the match, seemingly closing out the field when it comes to participants. Meanwhile, Dominik is set to fight Cody Rhodes at the premium live event in London. However, the card is always subject to change.

Priest is giving off the impression that he no longer needs Judgment Day. When he defeated Matt Riddle to qualify for a spot in the ladder match, he explicitly told the rest of the stable that he wanted to fight alone. When Finn Balor showed up during Priest's match with Seth Rollins, Damian appeared upset that his stablemate was at ringside. Week by week, Priest is becoming more of a babyface and less of a villain that's suitable for The Judgment Day. The group can nip this potential problem in the bud by making sure he won't become Mr. Money In The Bank.

The injustice of being screwed out of the ladder match by his own stablemates can spark a fire under Priest, potentially turning him into Monday Night Raw's top babyface. Winning the briefcase is also arguably best suited for a heel, and considering that Priest is showing signs of a slow burn face turn, perhaps he's best suited to become World Heavyweight Champion after a long journey marked by adversity rather than a simple cash-in.

How Dominik Mysterio Can Still End Up In Money In The Bank

In 2019, Sami Zayn was attacked before the MITB match and Brock Lesnar filled in as his substitute, going on to win the match and the briefcase. Last year, after already facing Bobby Lashley in a losing effort on the same night, Austin Theory was shoehorned into the ladder match at the last minute and went on to win. In 2023, it's possible that Dominik could become an unadvertised participant in the match. If Damian Priest is attacked right before the ladder match, Dominik can fill in as his replacement. Priest's attacker could end up being revealed as the newest member of Judgment Day.

In recent weeks, there have been rumors regarding a new member of The Judgment Day. Those rumors suggested JD McDonagh, who was recently drafted to Raw from NXT, could become the newest disciple of the dark faction. Although it isn't rumored to be the case, Bronson Reed would be another great candidate to be included in the Judgment Day faction and potentially take the place of Damian Priest in the group. It was noted on commentary during the most recent episode of Raw that Reed was bothered about not being included in the ladder match. Perhaps he'd find greater opportunities on Monday Night Raw as a member of Judgment Day. And if the group does decide to boot out Priest, the massive Bronson could serve the role of the group's enforcer.

The MITB Briefcase Is A Perfect Prop For Dominik Mysterio

Considering that the MITB briefcase can theoretically be cashed in at any time of the holder's choosing for up to one year, it's a perfect tool for the unscrupulous heel to exploit a champion's weakest moment by capitalizing on their wounded prey with a cash-in. All-time greats like Edge and The Miz have used this very method to take their heel persona to the next level and become World Champions. But the level of heat that Dominik is facing from fans makes him a special case. If he were to win the briefcase, Dominik Mysterio may go down as the most-hated Money In The Bank winner of all time.

Dominik's "Mami", Rhea Ripley, could also help turn up the heat by helping him win the briefcase during the match. She could carry a beaten-up Dominik on her shoulders as she climbs up the ladder and he retrieves the briefcase. This would prove that Dominik most certainly didn't earn his win, potentially making him even more hated.
