Where Will T'Challa's Son Appear Next In The MCU? 3 Possibilities
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever introduced one new young character to the MCU, and could be hinting at a bright future for T'Challa's son, Toussaint.
T'Challa's son, Toussaint, was introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, setting up a bright future for the MCU's young prince. In the wake of Chadwick Boseman's 2020 death, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever became a highly emotional exploration of grief and legacy, focusing on the people of Wakanda as they set out to war against Namor and his underwater army. Wakanda Forever laid the foundations for some exciting future projects in the MCU, especially thanks to Shuri's promotion to become the new Black Panther, the development of the sinister Valentina and her position in the CIA, and the introduction of Prince T'Challa, the secret son of the MCU's former Black Panther.
Prince T'Challa's debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's post-credits scene came as a huge shock to audiences, as it was revealed that T'Challa and Nakia had a son before Thanos' attack on Earth in Avengers: Infinity War, choosing to raise him in Haiti away from the pressures of the Wakandan throne. Prince T'Challa, whose Haitian name is Toussaint after a Haitian Revolution General, is portrayed by Divine Love Konadu-Sun in his acting debut, but this certainly won't be the last time he's seen in the MCU. Toussaint's introduction sets up several future projects for Marvel Studios, and beautifully pays tribute to Chadwick Boseman, while continuing his legacy in the MCU.
3 Black Panther 3
After the massive success of both Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, a third installment is all but inevitable, with some rumors even suggesting that planning has already begun on Black Panther 3. This would perhaps be the most likely place for Prince T'Challa to make his next MCU appearance since he can follow in his father's footsteps and potentially step up as the future King of Wakanda and the Black Panther. Wakanda Forever saw Shuri create a synthetic version of the heart-shaped herb, planting new buds in the ground, which opens the door for many new Black Panthers after her time as the hero is over.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever only gave audiences a short glimpse of Prince T'Challa, so a potential Black Panther 3 could see some real development for the character. Ryan Coogler's original vision for Wakanda Forever would have investigated Boseman's T'Challa in the aftermath of the events of Avengers: Endgame, and his grief over losing time with his new son (a storyline that has now passed to Scott Lang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania), so Black Panther 3 could deal with similar themes from the perspective of Prince T'Challa. Black Panther 3 could even see Prince T'Challa suit up in his own Black Panther suit, perfectly honoring his father.
2 Young Avengers
Marvel Studios has been teasing a future crossover of the Young Avengers in the MCU since the introduction of Billy and Tommy Maximoff in WandaVision. Phase 4 debuted more young heroes than ever before, all but confirming the formation of Marvel's youngest superhero team in a potential MCU Young Avengers project. If Prince T'Challa is set to take over the moniker of Black Panther in the MCU, this Young Avengers project would be the perfect place for him to make an appearance, as he'd be a valuable member of the team, and this would be the best way to bring the Black Panther's true legacy hero out of hiding.
If he joins the MCU's Young Avengers, Prince T'Challa would most likely find himself fighting alongside some remarkable young superheroes who have been introduced to the MCU in recent years. This includes the likes of Kate Bishop from Hawkeye, Kamala Khan from Ms. Marvel, and Cassie Lang from the Ant-Man franchise, among many others. The Young Avengers could be very important in the coming battle against Kang the Conqueror in the MCU, especially since one of his variants, Iron Lad, is a key player on the team, so it's likely that they'll form before Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Prince T'Challa would make a great addition to the team.
1 Wakanda Disney+ Series
Marvel Studios revealed in February 2021 that Ryan Coogler had started development on a Disney+ series focusing on the nation of Wakanda that has been developed in the Black Panther films. There was speculation that this series would take the form of an origin story for Okoye, the former General of Wakanda's Dora Milaje, portrayed by The Walking Dead alum Danai Gurira. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever saw Okoye take her place as one of the MCU's Midnight Angels, after previously working with the Avengers during the five-year Blip in Avengers: Endgame, so she has had more development than most.
A Disney+ series centering on Wakanda and Okoye could be the perfect place for Prince T'Challa to make his next MCU appearance, particularly since it would be great to see Okoye take the young Prince T'Challa under her wing and build a friendship with him just as she had with his father. This series could perhaps be the perfect opportunity to show Prince T'Challa's growth into a hero, with Okoye possibly taking on a mentor role for the young hero. In this way, Okoye's intense storyline in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever would get a very satisfying payoff, and the Wakanda series would get some added weight.
