Tom Checketts joined the cast of Below Deck Mediterranean halfway through season five as a chef and is still working hard to this day. After Chef Kiko Lorran failed to prepare a yacht-worthy meal during a Las Vegas-themed dinner, Captain Sandy Yawn no longer felt like he could live up to her standards of a yacht chef. Shortly after Kiko departed, Malia White, who was in a relationship with Tom at the time, suggested him as the chef, which Sandy quickly agreed to.

Once Tom got onto the yacht, he felt the pressure immediately. In fact, there was one point where Tom had a meltdown in the galley after he was forced to get back to work while still on his break. He took his anger out on the second stew Aesha Scott, who later shed a few tears regarding the situation. However, Tom ultimately apologized, as he felt bad about how he reacted. Nonetheless, the chef made quite the impression on Below Deck Med fans despite being on the show for a short time.

After departing from The Wellington last season, Tom continued in his career as a chef. According to his Instagram page, Tom is still working on yachts and traveling the world. His most recent charter, according to his social media, was somewhere in the Caribbean. He shared photos of the beautiful scenery in St. Barts and Antigua. After his season finished, Tom headed to the United States and spent some time traveling around there. He visited cities such as Savannah and Memphis. However, when Tom isn't exploring new cities and countries thanks to his job as a yacht chef, he loves showing off his cooking skills.

While Tom's career as a chef might be thriving, his personal life isn't as great. He and Malia, who were together while filming Below Deck Med, broke up shortly after they filmed the reunion. During an episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Malia implied Tom may have cheated on her while they were both working in different countries. The breakup was not a shock to fans after watching Tom's explosive behavior on the show. Malia is much more laid-back compared to Tom, and it seems the relationship wasn't a great fit. Nonetheless, Tom is busy in his career right now and may not be looking for another serious relationship.

Now that Tom is no longer with Malia, there is a very slim chance he will return for another season of Below Deck Mediterranean in the future. Judging by his social media, Tom is having a great time pursuing his career as a yacht chef, and he doesn't seem to be slowing down. Perhaps one day in the future, Tom will return as Captain Sandy's chef onboard.
