What Bugsy Drake Has Been Up To In 2021

Since leaving season 5 of Below Deck Med, Bugsy Drake has become quite successful. She is a published author and still works as a chief stew.

Christine "Bugsy" Drake has been quite busy outside of her life as a yachtie since she was last on Below Deck Mediterranean. The stew was introduced to the franchise when she joined the superyacht, Sirrocco, for season 2 as the second stew. She worked under Hannah Ferrier, the chief stew, but often felt that she was the one who would be superior in that role. At the end of the charter, Bugsy called Hannah "a lousy chief stew," causing a rift between the two.

Three years later, Bugsy joined the show again for season 5 after Hannah's second stew, Lara, quit after one charter. While Hannah was annoyed by the choice of replacement, she did prefer to have Bugsy over Lara onboard. After Hannah was fired for having Valium in her cabin, Bugsy took over the role of chief stew. While some of the team seemed to enjoy Bugsy's leadership skills, others were still team Hannah.

So, what is Bugsy up to now? Well, the stew is still working in the yachting industry in the interior team. Earlier this year, Bugsy shared several photos on her Instagram page in places such as the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas. She has continued to show off her tablescaping skills, as well as give her followers tips on how to set the perfect table. After Bugsy became known for her iconic tablescapes, she was offered a book deal. In February, the stew announced her book, The Art of Tablescaping, was available for preorder. It was later released in May. After the release of her book, Bugsy, who is from South Africa, went on a remote book tour where she spoke about her time on Below Deck Med and her relationship with the crew.

In an interview with Us Weekly in May, Bugsy revealed the relationship status between herself and one of her season 5 crewmates. She and deckhand Alex Radcliffe remained close after the show but don't see each other very often. "We’ve remained close friends for sure [...] it’s just the fact that we work on completely different boats. We’re never really in the same place a lot of the time," she said to the news outlet at the time. Bugsy and Alex had a flirty relationship with each other but never transitioned into anything more romantic, and it seems they never moved out of the friend zone.

It seems like she and Alex won't be reconnecting anytime soon, as Bugsy is currently dating a new guy. The couple met almost two years ago on a yacht, but they aren't anything serious as of now. Bugsy has had a very successful 2021. Not only did she publish her first book, but she is still working hard in the yachting industry. As for whether she would ever return to Below Deck Med, it seems the door is always open for her.
