Vickie Guerrero Announces Name For New AEW Faction
AEW is known for its high volume of factions, with groups like The Blackpool Combat Club, Jericho Appreciation Society, The House Of Black, Death Triangle and others currently in the mix. A new collective of talent got their name on an episode of AEW Dark that dropped yesterday (h/t Fightful). This group will operate in the women’s division.
Vickie Guerrero Announces The Newest AEW Faction, The Beasts Of Burden
Vickie Guerrero has managed former AEW Women’s World Champion Nyla Rose for quite some time, and more recently Marina Shafir has teamed with Rose. On the latest episode of AEW Dark, the duo defeated the team of Heather Reckless and Joseline Navarro in a dominant fashion. Manager Vickie Guerrero got on the mic afterward to formally announce the unit will be known as The Beasts of Burden. The name seems to be a reference to Rose's nickname "The Beast," and Shafir's "The Problem."
What To Expect From The Beasts Of Burden In AEW
While Nyla Rose was a featured monster heel champion in the early days of AEW, she has slipped down the card since that time, shifting to a more supporting role, and often only working on AEW Dark as opposed to PPV, or the cable television shows, Dynamite or Rampage.

Her most notable performances saw her put over AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa and the undefeated TBS Champion Jade Cargill. There’s not a great deal of reason for optimism that The Beasts of Burden will be major players in the women’s division, but at least having this name associated with them gives them a bit clearer identity and establishment as partners. These factors may help them factor into more angles opposite units like Thunderstorm or The Baddies.
The Beasts of Burden may not be game changers on the AEW landscape, but nonetheless add a new dimension to the women’s division, particularly as it's represented on AEW Dark. Moreover, AEW hasn’t shied away from adding new titles, and if they were to pull the trigger on a Women’s Tag Team Championship, Nyla Rose and Marina Shafir are positioned as natural contenders to add to that mix.
