Tommaso Ciampa Is Ready To Become Champions With Timothy Thatcher At WWE NXT Great American Bash
On July 6th, Tommaso Ciampa and his new tag team partner Timothy Thatcher will challenge MSK, the team of Wes Lee and Nash Carter for a chance to become new NXT Tag Team Champions.
NXT's Tomasso Ciampa sat down for a one-on-one interview with Denise Salcedo and amongst the many topics they discussed; his latest endeavor with Timothy Thatcher was a large part of the conversation.
At the upcoming NXT Great American Bash on July 6th, both Thatcher and Ciampa will be challenging for the NXT Tag Team Championship belts against the young team of MSK.
While MSK have been working towards building a name for themselves on the black and gold brand, Ciampa is fairly certain that he and Thatcher will walk out with gold around their waists.
Ciampa Is Happy With His Partnership With Thatcher
While this wasn't the scenario Tommaso Ciampa would have imagined a year ago, he is very happy with the way his partnership with Thatcher sort of fell on their laps.
"In this scenario, I am happy that it turned out to what it did. It was a tough year, year and a half for me just professionally. I was in two Takeovers in a year, and it was tough to stomach where you're like 'damn, well what do I gotta do?' Because I know the work ethic I have, I know what I am controlling and there's a lot of variables out of your control and you're just trying to figure out well 'what are we gonna do? what's gonna click?' I don't think if I sat down in a room a year ago I would have been like 'oh yeah Timmy and I are gonna do this thing and it's gonna click and it's gonna be great' It fell on our lap. There's the Dusty Cup opening, we get thrown together and I just remember that match ending and going like "oh we've got some chemistry here, this is good" and we're like-minded fellas, we get along good and like you said, it's really grown recently. It's a good chemistry we got, whether it's in the ring or even when we're doing backstage promos segments and such, we feed off each other really well, there's good energy there, there's good understanding there, Timmy is a star, and it's not like nobody is carrying anybody around, it's just two dudes who got aligned at the right time and it's working."

Ciampa Is Confident He & Thatcher Are Walking Out As Champions at NXT Great American Bash
Ciampa and Thatcher have never faced MSK, this will be their first encounter and although he believes the young team is talented he doesn't believe they have a chance at actually retaining their titles.
"I've never even stepped in a ring with them and they're definitely talented, they wouldn't be NXT Tag Team Champions if they weren't. I don't think they have a chance in hell to beat us , it's not even a knock on them. I don't think anybody could beat us right now. It's just the truth."
Ciampa attributes the confidence he has heading into this tag team bout to the new place he minds himself in both physically and mentally.
"I am working in a place right now that I haven't been in before as far as just physically and mentally, I am as sharp as I've ever been."
Plus, it certainly helps that his tag team partner, Timothy Thatcher might have other goals in mind motivating him.
"Timmy is hungry, he's never won gold in NXT, he's real hungry. He's like a quiet hungry, he doesn't complain. He sits by himself a lot, but that boy is hungry."
Lastly, Ciampa finalizes his prediction on how he believes the match at NXT Great American Bash will turn out.
"That Great American Bash, that is the most eyes that will have ever been on us as a tag team. It's a big stage, it's a big match and if I was a betting man, which I am not but if I was, I'd bet it all on us."
