Tom Holland discusses Spider-Man: No Way Home's lawyer scene for the very first time. Charlie Cox reprises his role as Matt Murdock, also known as Daredevil, in the recently released Marvel Cinematic Universe movie as the blind attorney who gets the charges against Peter Parker dropped after Quentin Beck aka Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) posthumously frames him for his murder. Cox first portrayed the character in the eponymous Netflix series from Marvel Television that ran from 2015 to 2018 before it was canceled after three seasons, though the door remained open for future appearances.
Cox isn't the only one who makes a surprise appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home. After fervent fan speculation and intense secrecy on Marvel's end, the highly-anticipated MCU movie finally revealed Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's involvement. The two reprise their roles as past iterations of Peter Parker/Spider-Man who make their way into the MCU from alternate universes in the wake of Doctor Strange's (Benedict Cumberbatch) botched spell. No Way Home's ensemble cast also includes Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, Marisa Tomei, J.K, Simmons, Alfred Molina, Willem Dafoe, and Jamie Foxx who also reprise their roles from past films.
Talking to Marvel, Tom Holland opened up for the first time about what it was like sharing the screen with actors making their returns in No Way Home, including Cox. The Spider-Man actor loved doing the scene with the Daredevil actor, especially since it featured two superheroes sharing a brief moment of downtime (despite the part where Murdock catches the brick). Read what Holland had to say below:
We had so much fun working with Charlie. It's really interesting doing a scene between two Super Heroes that has no real Super Hero stuff in it. Apart from the bit when he catches the brick. It was awesome. I loved working with Charlie.
Though his cameo in No Way Home is very brief, fans are surely delighted to see Cox back in character once again. His surprise appearance also signals big things for his MCU future. While his next appearance has not yet been confirmed by Marvel, it has been speculated he will show up in the Disney+ series She-Hulk, which centers on a fellow lawyer, Bruce Banner's cousin Jennifer Walters. Cox is also heavily rumored to reprise his role in the Hawkeye spin-off Echo, which could possibly serve as a launchpad for his own Daredevil series on Disney+.
Netflix's Daredevil series will likely factor into the MCU in a big way in the near future. His archenemy, Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio), has already appeared in Hawkeye as he was revealed to be the big guy pulling the strings all along. With Murdock's appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it only seems like a matter of time before the two meet up again in the MCU.
