TJP Claims No Match He Has Ever Wrestled Has Required Him To Up His Game
TJ Perkins made a bold claim over the weekend, tweeting that he is yet to step in the ring with a single person who has forced him to up his game.
Wrestlers who have been in the business for a while will often say that no matter how many years they compete, they are always learning. That once a wrestler is done learning, that's when their career is truly over. There will come times in every performer's career where they realize how much better some people still are, even if they are considered to be one of the very best.
ROH's Cheeseburger recently took to Twitter to ask a question relating to exactly that. "Who was the first 'name' you wrestled that was so good you realized how little you truly know and helped you step your game up?" Cheeseburger asked. Various names from the business answered, including CM Punk and Drew Gulak.

However, the response receiving the most attention is the one from TJP. The former Cruiserweight Champion claims that no one he has ever been in the ring with has forced him to up his game and that he is always the quarterback people go to for notes. "Sadly no one for me. And I’ll be honest, I have spent 22 years waiting/wanting for that to not be the case," TJP tweeted.
That answer has unsurprisingly garnered quite a bit of backlash from fans. TJP clarified in the replies to his tweet that he never said he didn't learn anything, nor has he stopped learning, just that no one he has ever stepped between the ropes with has been "beyond" him and that he is the one people everyone comes to for advice. Quite a bold a claim to make, for sure.
As for some of the other answers given, Jay Lethal wrote the wrestler who made him realize that was Mikey Whipwreck, while Brian Myers, formerly known as Curt Hawkins, gave props to Christian. The only people who could honestly answer no one are the likes of Shawn Michaels or The Undertaker. However, even they would probably have an answer since the question pertains to a point early on in a wrestler's career, at least for most people.
