[Theory] WWE To Make Last-Minute Massive Change To Royal Rumble Match

There's no confirmation from WWE but a theory making the rounds less than 24 hours before the Royal Rumble match is that a big change to the iconic match is coming.

As the Rumble nears on Sunday, last-minute rumors and speculation surround the match and there's one rumor that makes a lot of sense, even if it's not all that likely. With WWE having announced so many competitors for the match, which includes no NXT competitors, there's a theory that 10 more men will be added to the match, making it a 40-man Royal Rumble.

WWE.com has announced 26 men (27 if you count R-Truth) and that means only four spots remain to include surprise entrants, NXT stars, NXT UK stars and a lot of other Raw and SmackDown competitors that are not currently listed for the match. With rumors Kane and MVP might be in the match, that really leaves only two spots. How can that be?

With so many stars possibly being left out, speculation is that WWE may announce at the start of the pay-per-view, possibly in the pre-show that the Rumble match will expand to include 10 more competitors. That would give WWE a chance to fill the match, include the surprises the PPV has come to be known for and potentially open up the door for more shocking turns and twists.

This won't have been the first time WWE has gone with 40 men, so it's not too hard to imagine them doing so again with such a deep roster.

What Would Another 10 Competitors Do?

If nothing else, 10 more competitors changes the possibilities of how the match ends, who might take home the ultimate prize, who enters to eliminate Brock Lesnar and more. It also adds a bit of time to the PPV which could potentially shorten other matches.

It might also bump another bout to the pre-show.
