The Tony Awards tends to be a red carpet that stars play pretty safe, but Lupita Nyong'o chose to push the style boundaries with her look, and it certainly paid off. The actress wore a silver breastplate underneath a chic black suit by Misha Japanwala, and added jewellery by De Beers.

Embracing a floral and feminine look was Lea Michele in a strappy ballgown by Emilia Wickstead.

Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain injected some sunshine yellow onto the Tony Awards red carpet in a structured dress by Gucci which was complete with a dramatic cape.

Jodie Comer

Jodie Comer took home a big award on the night, and was dressed for the occasion in a super simple, chic black gown by Thom Browne, which she wore with Ana Khouri jewellery.

Michelle Williams

Adding a little sparkle to the occasion was Michelle Williams. The actress chose a metallic column gown by Louis Vuitton, keeping her accessorising to a minimum.

Ariana Debose

Presenter Ariana Debose also embraced silver for the evening. Her dress was custom Prada, and she wore jewellery by De Beers.

Lorna Courtney was another attendee to embrace some florals for the evening, wearing a beautifully detailed gown by Markarian.

Kara Young

Keeping things altogether more simple was Kara Young who chose a strapless, black gown with embroidered detail. She added some drama with a chunky choker necklace and purple lipstick.
