The Mandalorian Season 2 Cast Guide: Every New Character

The Mandalorian season 2 is filled with a talented cast of returning characters and some new ones. Here's who will be in the new season.

The Mandalorian season 2 features a big cast filled with returning characters and new ones - here's who is included in the cast. The Mandalorian season 1 arrived on Disney+ in November 2019. As the flagship series for Disney's streaming service and the first live-action Star Wars show, expectations were high for what Jon Favreau could deliver. The Mandalorian season 1 was a runaway success and gained a huge following, especially after the surprise reveal of The Child aka Baby Yoda.

Disney was well aware of the success it would be, with Favreau already working on The Mandalorian season 2 by the time the first episode launched. The Mandalorian season 2 will release its first episode almost a year after the season 1 debut. New episodes of the show will air on Disney+ throughout the remainder of 2020. Although the trailers have done an excellent job of keeping details on the next adventure under wraps, there are several other indications of how The Mandalorian season 2 will pick up the story after the season 1 finale.

Season 2 will still primarily follow the main characters from the first season, but it is also set to introduce some major new characters. Rumors have swirled about who will appear in the second season and many include major characters from Star Wars making an appearance. This will include the return of some actors already familiar with the galaxy far, far away, while others will join the universe for the first time. Here's a complete guide to The Mandalorian season 2 cast.

Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin

Pedro Pascal is back to star as Din Djarin, the former foundling who was rescued by Mandalorians as a child. After primarily only providing the voice for Din in season one, Pascal is underneath the Beskar armor much more in season 2. He is on a mission to find other Mandalorians who can help him return Baby Yoda to his rightful home. Pascal's face might be hidden under a helmet for most of The Mandalorian, but viewers are likely to recognize him from roles in Game of ThronesKingsman: The Golden Circle, and Narcos.

Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon

Giancarlo Esposito returns as Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian season 2. Gideon only appeared at the tail end of the first season, but that is expected to be very different in season two. With the Darksaber in hand and a desire to catch Baby Yoda, Gideon is positioned as the main villain of the new season. Esposito is best known for playing Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He has also recently been seen in Amazon Prime Video's The Boys as Stan Edgar.

Gina Carano as Cara Dune

The Mandalorian season 2 will see the return of Gina Carano as Cara Dune. The ex-Rebel shock trooper befriended Din Djarin during season one and will be back by his side in the new episodes. She proved to be a useful ally for Din but they went their separate ways in the finale. Trailers for season 2 have already confirmed they'll be reunited in a big way. The Mandalorian is one of former MMA star's biggest acting credits. She previously starred in Steven Soderbergh's Haywire and had supporting roles in Deadpool and Fast & Furious 6.

Carl Weathers as Greef Karga

Carl Weathers is confirmed to play Greef Karga again in The Mandalorian season 2. The leader of the Bounty Hunters' Guild had a close working relationship with Din Djarin before and teamed up with him to kill The Client and help take back control of Nevarro. Weathers is arguably best known as Apollo Creed in the original Rocky movies, where he played foe-turned-friend for Sylvester Stallone's Rocky Balboa. He also appeared in Predator and Happy Gilmore. Weathers has more recently been featured in the Chicago Fire/P.D./Justice TV franchise. Weathers will also pull double-duty with The Mandalorian and direct an episode in season 2.

Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett

One of the biggest new additions to The Mandalorian season 2 cast is Temuera Morrison. It was previously reported that Morrison had joined the cast to play the famous bounty hunter Boba Fett. The character was last seen in Return of the Jedi, where it was believed he died in the Sarlaac pit. Although Disney has not officially announced his casting, Morrison's casting agency seemingly confirmed his Boba Fett role. This will be his first time playing Boba Fett, but he is no stranger to Star Wars. Morrison previously played Jango Fett in the prequel trilogy, making him a logical choice to play the grown-up version of Boba. Outside of Star Wars, Morrison recently appeared in Aquaman and Dora and the Lost City of Gold.

Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano

It has also been reported that Rosario Dawson will play a pivotal role in The Mandalorian season 2 as Ahsoka Tano. The character previously appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, but she has not been featured in live-action yet. That is expected to change with the upcoming second season of The Mandalorian. Dawson has been a longtime fan-favorite choice to play Ahsoka in live-action and even expressed interest in the role before. She previously played Claire Temple in several Marvel Netflix shows, including Luke Cage. Some of Dawson's other credits include RentDeath Proof, and Unstoppable.
