"Never say never" is an accurate statement when it comes to the wrestling industry, with the last few years proving how anything, no matter how unpredictable or improbable, can happen. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin returned to the ring at WrestleMania 38 after nearly 20 years away, and recently spoke about the possibility of making another WWE comeback.

8 Things Stone Cold Steve Austin Has Done Since Retiring From WWE
From acting to becoming an entrepreneur, Stone Cold Steve Austin has kept busy since retiring from WWE!

While he missed out on WrestleMania 39 and likely WrestleMania 40, he provided a positive answer for fans that want to see him wrestle one last time:

“I said I’d never get in a ring again unless all the stars aligned. For some reason, somehow, they all did. At the age of 57, I headlined the first night of WrestleMania. I never thought I’d do that. If you’d have told me that when I retired in [2003], I’d have said, ‘You’re crazy.’ So I’m not gonna sit here and say no to anything, because you never say never in this crazy business of sports entertainment.”

The 59-year-old last competed in the main event of WrestleMania 38, headlining Night 1 against Kevin Owens. After shaking off some of the rust, Austin opened a can of you-know-what and whooped Owens all over AT&T Stadium in Dallas.

A Dream Match With CM Punk Might Be On The Horizon

There are a number of possible opponents for Stone Cold if he did decide to come back for one more match. The most obvious would be the dream match fans have been clamoring for: a showdown with CM Punk. The match itself would be a spectacle, but the mic work and promo battles leading up to it would be epic.

Stone Cold Steve Austin is one of the biggest WWE stars of all time, but he also did great in WCW and ECW. Here are Austin's 10 best matches, ranked.

While the match was rumored to happen as soon as Punk made his WWE return, things cooled off. It doesn't seem to be off the table, though, as Austin's response to being asked about Punk seemed to leave the door open:

"I like Punk, and I think Punk likes me -- so, as long as he can take a [Stone Cold] Stunner," [Austin laughed] "I consider him a great friend, a great guy and a great wrestler who's had a great career. We'll see."

Whether fans will get to see this dream match is up in the air. If it does become a reality, it won't be happening anytime soon, with Stone Cold currently involved in many projects, and CM Punk nursing a triceps injury.
