Sing 2: The Main Characters, Ranked By Likability

Sing 2 brings back characters like Ash from the first animated movie and adds in some others like Jimmy, although not everyone is equally likable

Sing 2 brought the musical animals from the first movie back for a new adventure that took them to the big city where they hoped to become stars. Along the way, they faced insecurities as well as some really bad people who wanted to hold them down â€” and even hurt them in some cases.

By the end, not only did these singers find big success, but they also united with an older star who had lost his confidence. Through the movie, the same loveable characters from the original Sing delivered some of the same goodness, while at least two new characters were far from likable this time around.

11 Jimmy Crystal

Of the main characters, the least likable newcomer in the movie was Jimmy Crystal. The wolf was the media mogul who runs Crystal Entertainment and booked all the shows that appeared at his entertainment venue in Redshore City.

Jimmy is the bad guy in the movie, which makes his unlikeable nature perfect. He is arrogant, demanding, dismissive, and does everything he can to hurt the characters whom fans have grown to love.

10 Porsha Crystal

Porsha Crystal is a misunderstood character in Sing 2, but as a result, she spends most of the movie as one of the most unlikeable.  She is Jimmy's daughter and she really wanted a part in the musical. Because of who she is, Moon was forced to add her as the new lead.

However, she wasn't good enough and when Moon tried to recast her, she overreacted. It was her overreactions, her overbearing nature, and the fact that she felt she was owed everything that made her someone hard to get behind.

9 Gunter

Moon and Gunter working at their musical.

Gunter is back from the first Sing movie and he's the exact same: the overenthusiastic actor pig with big ideas. However, while he is funny when he goes overboard, it makes him harder to like than others.

He is a one-note comedy gimmick in the movie, with his dense behavior posing as an artist. He isn't unlikeable, but he doesn't have the emotional arc of anyone else in his troupe.

8 Nooshy

Nooshy street dancing in Sing 2.

Nooshy is a new character in Sing 2. She is a street dancer who is really good at what she does, even if she might not be legally allowed to perform in the streets. Jimmy asks her to help him with his dancing and she agrees.

She is a rough-around-the-edges character, but she has a good heart and helps out Jimmy, one of the most beloved characters from the first Sing movie, helping boost her likability factor.

7 Miss Crawly

Miss Crawly is a strange player in Sing 2. Much like Gunter, she is a one-joke character. However, unlike the pig, she comes across as someone that seems to actually care. She is there to make things work for Moon and she will do almost anything to help the musical.

The character is also hilarious, as proven after her first trip to find Clay Calloway. When she returned, she was shaken up and her likability shone through brightly at that time.

6 Clay Calloway

Clay Calloway was one of the most important new characters in Sing 2. Voiced by U2's Bono, Clay was a former rock star who had quit and become a recluse after his wife died. His first appearance, firing a paint gun at Miss Crawley, and the fact he became so likable after that speaks wonders.

He isn't quite up to the level of the characters from the first movie because he is a little too gruff most of the time, but he is one of the reasons the musical thrived and he was there to help Ash, which helped elevate him over others.

5 Buster Moon

Buster Moon directing his big play.

Buster Moon didn't change much from the first Sing movie. Instead of trying to save his theater with a big talent show, he was trying to help make his troupe big stars in the city. Once again, this was all about trying to create something big and important, and that kept him below most of his cast.

Buster Moon was scrambling around to fix things most of the movie, and while he feared for his life, his emotional story arc just didn't rise enough in this movie compared to others.

4 Meena

The performers in Sing 2 meet Clay Calloway.

Meena had an arc in the first movie where she wanted to be a star, but she was too shy and her family didn't make it any easier on her. It was her struggles to perform that almost killed their musical in the first movie. That story repeated itself here.

Instead of being too shy to perform, Meena was too shy to do a romantic scene with a co-star and she had to figure that out. Once again, she was able to come through in the end and even might have gotten a date out of it.

3 Johnny

Johnny stands up for himself in Sing 2.

Johnny had the biggest character arc in the first movie, thanks to his relationship with his dad and his desire to be something more. With that solved, Johnny was now simply insecure about his dancing skills for the new musical, and that just wasn't as deep.

In the sequel to the underrated animated musical, Johnny was still a big part of the movie, and it was his arc that made Nooshy more likable, but he took a step back in this movie behind three of his fellow troupe members.

2 Rosita

Rosita leads the Sing 2 cast to their performance.

Rosita had a big arc in the fire movie where she wanted to be a star but she was worried she wasn't good enough and hid it from her family. This time around, Rosita had a chance to be the lead character in the new musical, but her fear of heights shattered those dreams.

It was Rosita's inherent likability that made Porsha so unlikeable when she stole the lead role. It also made the climax so much more thrilling when Rosita finally found herself and led the show in the end.

1 Ash

Ash singing in Sing 2.

While the most likable character in the first Sing movie was Johnny, this time around it was Ash. The first movie had Ash trying to find herself and where she fit in the world without her boyfriend defining their relationship as a duo. When Ash slammed the bar owner who underpaid her and walked out, she showed in Sing 2 that she had grown.

She only went up from there. She was who helped convince Clay to come back and rejoin life once again. She was the one who helped bring him out in the concert, and she showed the most growth of anyone from the first movie to this one, easily making her the most likable character in Sing 2.
